This is stage one of my next digital painting Smile

This is a ligth study of a robot for my novel it is suposed to be an exploration robot, made to survive on harsh, hard enviromets.
What do u think of the image? any critics are more than wellcome.

See ya, I hope it looks good, thanks for reading this post Smile

I like the feeling of the painting so far. I have no idea how you usually work, but my biggest qualm at the moment is with the sky. It feels clogged... What I mean is, it feels like something solid. Perhaps you should lighten it? Or maybe the colors of the sky don't feel clear enough.

The robot itself looks great, even if it's quite rough-looking. I await with great curiosity to see how this'll turn out.

I'm no expert, and not a very experienced artist, BUT, at least i think i saw something that seemed off

i took the liberty to make some explaining arrows in your picture:

first look at the green circles, somehow that defines the thickness of thoose panels, when looking at the leftmost red arrow that thickness is not there. also the other red arrow points to a part in which i would like to see the side of the panel, with the current perspective. I see you agree on that with the upperpart of the panel having a good side shadow, but not the lower. I would advise to add some more clear shadow on that one since there seems to be some light areas there that makes it all smudgy.

next thing i saw what that at the part covering the 'head' you have a hole in the armor, or an opening more. now i dont know if you wanted that hole to be infront of the head OR if you just want it to be asymmetrical.

look at the angle of the shoudlers, those should correspond the symmery right? then i feel there should be a similar hole in the armor at the point where the red arrow is. Not all sure about that one though, either add anotherone of thoose holes to keep it symmetrical, or rotate the whole armor... taken that its a symmetrical bot.

I'd say the sky has radically improved. Smile Perhaps you can make those dark clouds look dark but a bit less dirty by using a little bit of blue and less gray.. But.. *squints at the bad laptop screen* maybe you've already done that. It's a bit difficult for me to see here.. Confused I really like that very light, white cloud over there... I think you've made a good choice to add those dark clouds there - balances the image nicely.
I assume you'll sharpen the details some more.. Can't wait to see what happens.

yes its already really nice =)

but one thing: the blue orb on his head looks a bit odd... as if it isnt connected to it. it was better before you did the perspective changes, because there was a piece of the armor in front of it.

hope you understand what i wanted to say Very Happy
