Okay My b/f upgraded my computer from ME to XP pro. Why? I have no clue... But after he did so I could not use Photoshop 6.0. I had to reformat and reinstall everything, and now it works fine (well for it being microsoft!).

Apparently You can't upgrade and it work. I guess it does this with all Adobe software not just PS... so beware there is no patch yet, but they said they were going to be one later this month (maybe)!!!!!

Im leaving XP alone until they've put out a couple upgrades and made it work better.. as far as Ive heard its a big headache..

the number of people that are disappointed to people who enjoy it are like 3 to 1... so Im keeping my distance for now..

the only photoshop/xp related problem i have is that since i have 6.0 installed, i can't run 5.* anymore. same with illustrator 9 and 8. i'd prefer 5.0.2 and 8..

anyway, i run xp pro and have had no problems with it so far. on the contrary, thanks to my hardware configuration, my average uptimes were 15-20 minutes or so (in win2k, nt4, win98 and redhat6) - there's some added hardware support/driver jazz in winxp that actually made my god forsaken VIA chipshit function properly - my winxp is completely stable.

and photoshop6 works like a charm. funnily enough, it's somewhat faster than in win2k pro..

i've noticed that the best functioning xp pro installation that i can get is by installing 2k pro, service pack 2, directx, amd/via drivers, then upgrade that into windows xp pro.

last 10 day uptime was destroyed by deus ex. =\

i've noticed that when i work with bigger photoshop files (meaning 75+ layers, 100+ megs) photoshop6 performs much better in winxppro than win2k.. pagefile.sys butchering has been improved.

i like winxppro.

funny things _can_ happen to winxppro if you install noncompatible drivers.

like, i installed g450 win2k drivers, and after a few reboots, my administrator account just VANISHED. but then again, it did tell me that it is NOT wise or recommended to install non-windows-logo-compatible-asdf-fuckshitblah drivers.

I've been using XP Pro for a while now and I'm running everything fine, Photoshop 6, Illustrator 9, and 3D Studio Max 4. Must be user error eh Steven?

Well the upgrade from ME to XP pro killed my adobe software.

*note to anyone* never let a computer tech off the clock dink with your computer and they say "...this will make it better".

Of course my b/f had no problem with ME to XP Pro when he did his... he's a comp tech not and artist he didn't have to try and use the software I was using.

Honestly I like XP Pro more... not sure why... but so far it's running fine now.
