If you plan on keeping the coloring with the white backround, all is well. However, if you plan on eventually adding something to it, it's usually best to lay it out with all the colors, even if the backround is a simple gradient or enlivened with 'decorative cuts'. Try to work on the big picture and your base values before worrying about rendering, this will make everything a good deal easier.
A smaller problem: if the light is coming from front and forward, as I believe it is here, you are going to have a cast shadow on the upper part of the eyeball, which appears a tad too white overall.
It may also be a good idea to aim for more contrast in the hilt? (cool dragon-mouth thing) of the sword.
I am not sure what type of style you are going for on the shading, so I can't say anything about it. One thing however...I'd be wary of using color burn and/or color color dodge to achieve shading if you are.
If you have any specific questions I can try to answer those. Good start! _________________ "The boy has no conception of the instrument, he's blowing into it." |

Yes, I've planned to go with a white background for this one.
I love that sword hilt, it is a really cool piece...but it is not finished, that's why I believe you pointed to the contrast
Thanks for the comments about the eye, I'm going to make a few changes.
About color burn/color dodge... no, I'm not using this

Hi, here goes a little updated on the coloring job.
Please note that's not finished yet, so you may find a bit dark.

Mad gave it a go with Trilunar, but they couldn't get a deal that they were confortable with (I interpret this to mean it was skewed too much in favor of the potential publishers). He's contracting with Realm Interactive now and I'm assuming he has a vested interest in it. He's got some big plans, but he's waiting for the time and market economy to be right and is being patient about it. |

I believe there is some concept art made by MAD available at http://www.exarchonline.com/concept.html the images are 800x600.
By the way here is the complete colored image.
