Quick Question> Arrow What kinda of games genres do you perfer and why?
For me it has to be RPG fansty/adventure Mr. Green I'm addicted to this stuff. Mr. Green I can't play anything else without comparing it to games like FF or The Lengend of Zelda
It must be because I perfer a game with a storyline.

Action. ActionActionAction. I find RPGs a bit slow, so they tend to bore me. If we're talking single player, I think 1/2 Life was pretty much right on the money for story vs. action, though I hope in the future to see better story lines. Any game where people fight by standing in a group with their peers, then stepping forward and doing something fancy, and then stepping back into their group, is, IMO, lame. If that floats your boat, more power to you.

If it's multiplayer, it needs to be team based and violent.

Mix everything together. I like my action with gore, sex, gallons of blood, violence, fast-paced story, explosions, big guns, humor, sick humor, even sicker humor, sick humor bordering on the line of not humerous anymore and just plain sick, boobies, cartoons, weapons you can throw like grenades, scissors, knives, pipe bombs - meele weapons like shovels, crowbars, small children, and spring-loaded/jet-powered anything - speaking of jetpowered - JETPACKS, jump shoes, cars - jetskis, planes, hellicopters with chainguns and missles, and all that good stuff...

all in one or atleast mostly all in one...I can live with it spread over 3 games.

A very short list:
I once estimated that I have played 600+ games since 1980.

RPG - Neverwinter, Arcanum, Link, Zelda, FF, Secret of Mana
MMORPG - Asherons Call, DAOC, WWII Online, Neocron, (SWG soonish)
FPS - Battlefield 1942, Medal of Honor, Halflife, Duke,Quake
RTS - Warcraft, Starcraft, TA Kingdoms, Age of Kings
Strategy / War - Fallout Tactics, Combat Mission, Close Combat, MOO
Sports - well ok, last sports game was NHL 96 Smile Wayne Gretsky Hockey '88, Speedball, I would play more sports games if I had a human opponent.
Action - Microsoft Pinball Arcade, Atari Anniversary Edition (old school games)
Simulation - Sim City
(Wierd) - Worms, Railroad Tycoon

RPGs are great when you have the time to play them. Some of my favs are Secret of Mana and the Legend of Zelda Series.

I think RTS games are fun too, at the moment I'm addicted to Stronghold Crusader on PC. I think it's a pretty unknown title, but it's great!

Oh and Metroid Prime is awesome aswell! But I think the first person adventure genre wont have many more titles.

I'm a big FPS fan. I think i played most of FPS games until a year ago (when i kinda stopped playing games).
Whenever i saw a demo of a new FPS, sure enough i checked it out Smile
I like other types of games too, but i just feel "at home" playing any fps.

I played some MMORPG too, and yeah, you DO need a lot of free time to play them. It's sick. lol

Big fan of games with storylines.... good ones . games like say half life and counterstrike -- barely have a story line, it really all comes down to point and click -- which , dont get me wrong, is fun and all but it dies out after a while.

games like final fantasy series, metal gear series, and adventure games like king quest, full throttle , etc. are just much more entertaining and humorous for me.

first one still count?

okay, I like nearly all kind of games but my favourite are adventures.

games like Shenmue and Zelda and also point and click adventures like The longest Journey are great.

Especialy because of the storyline like EviLToYLeT said. You can really fell the atmosphere in those games and it's like a real world you can live in.

Yes I like quake and stuff also but that's just for fun; a stress killer kinda.

It's not something I take serious...

alright, second question:

back in the days when N64 and dreamcast ruled I played 5 hours and more a day.

At the moment I play 3 hours a week (maximum) ...just because I don't have any really good games at the moment.

I dunno, most of the games these days look excellent.

But the gameplay and the atmosphere in those games isn't the same anymore...

maybe the cause is that I get older.........whatever

My next will be The two Towers....or maybe Biohazard Zero...well I can't decide...maybe both?

Okay I genrally spend about 5 4/5 hours a day playing the games!! Laughing
First of all because I, unlike most people, like to experience the game, you know the graphics, secnrey, story, and music. Not just get to the end.
I find it a real tradegy when my silblings and freinds only play game to get to the end, instead of enjoying its for what its worth!!
I think people should just relax, slow down, and enjoy the game.
How about you?

HEy
I would say those old arcade fly games viewed from the top, there is an old game called 1945 made by Capcom I think, that game was and is a killer. They have one of those old machines at the old Pool place in my town so I always play that game when I am there. :)

Matthew

P.S. Still think Quake2 is the best FPS game ever made. I hope the 4th version will rock cause the 2nd version is and was way better than Quake 3.

I don't like guys who buy or rob 5 different games and then just play the first "level" and quite afterwards.
I thik someone who bought a game should at least play it to end, not because of the destination to have played it to the end but to have seen all characters and landscapes etc....if you miss the half game it's a pity.
I think we mean the same more or less... --> enjoying its for what its worth

Although technically those two are in the same genre comparing them in this way is just Wrong. Counter-Strike has no story line, just a premise. Half-Life has a story that you watch unfold. Granted, it's not Shakespeare, but it's a pretty significant jump over most FPS's.

I also think it's Wrong to think of their gameplay as Point and Click. A web browser is point and click...you just click on whatever link you want. FPS's require strategy and fast reflexes. If your playing multiplayer with a team, add "teamwork" to that.

I think it's important to not only think of why we do not like a game/genre, but why we do like the ones we do. I like FPS's because they are very immersive and get my blood pumping. I like the idea that I may turn around a corner, spot an enemy, and nail him from afar...or I may turn the same corner and walk right into him. I like that I have to watch over my shoulder for snipers, and that sometimes I get nailed a few times before I figure out how to stop the guy, or dropping in on a bunch of bad guys and mowing them down before they realize what's happening.

Basically, I like FPS because they're the games that really make me feel like I'm actually playing the part of the character.

Hey
I can elaborate on why I dont like role-play games and that is because they are always so tricky and difficult. the only role-play game that I have been able to play is Battle Realms you know the one where Feng zhu made the concepts and some stuff for.
I guess it is vice versa with people that like rpg games, they like the tricky part and all that.

hmm, am I wrong.?
