Hey all, just wondering if anyone can offer any suggestions to help me pull this thing together. This is my first attempt at matte painting of any kind; I'm in the process of tightening up the image overall, but I was hoping to get some input on the image so far... thanks in advance!
edit: image is 1600x1200, 150 dpi on Painter 7

this is pretty darn cool gaijin. I would suggest making those sand dunes to the left in the foreground a lot more defined becuase of the fact that the buildings are so defined. The buildings look very nice along w/ the sand dunes in the bg. But i think it would look cool if u added some lights comin from the buildings and along the sides of the big cone thing (what i mean by lights would be equivalent to looking at new york city, or any city for that matter, at night. U no, with all the little lights comin from all the seperate rooms and stuff). And if i were makin this i would make the lights blue cuz the contrast of warm and cool colors is very nice looking.

be sure to show us the finished v!

Yeah, I'm working on those dunes... A question I forgot to ask is about texturing. If anyone has suggestions on how to paint with more texture (that would help a matte-painting look) I'm looking for help there. Most of the image is pretty.. smooth. I'm going to go back and add those sand ripples to the dunes, which should help, but I'm not sure how to approach the buildings or the spans of bridges...
