Weird request: I am going to Sweden soon, but my health is not good. I have not much strength. My doctor recommended that I buy a wheelchair, but I don't have enough money for a new one. They are over a thousand dollars, and parting with THAT much money is...eh...painful. Especially when I have to buy a ticket, too, AND a new computer....

So, if anyone in the Vancouver area has an OLD one, I can pay up to $300-$400 for it, and, of course, my eternal gratitude.

Socar, why are you going to Sweeden if you're sick? Isn't that quite dangeruos? I hope you have relatives at Sweeden to take care of you.

Anyway, I really hope you feel better

My boyfriend is waiting for me in Sweden. He spent years here in Canada while I finished my education...now it's my turn to go to his home.

The journey is not entirely safe for me, but it's well worth the risk. We haven't seen each other in six months, and can't wait to get together again. (He left before me in order to be able to attend school for the fall term.)

I believe you may find a cheap used wheelchair in a Saint Vincent de Paul Society or other church-based thrift stores. They usually carry a lot of stuff like that and sell it for really cheap. I don't know if there is one in Vancouver, but I'm sure there are something similar.

Actually, I KNOW there is a St. Vincent de Paul here...they're coming to get my furniture tomorrow morning. (I decided to donate it.) I will ask them if they know anything at that time.

I got one! Just under $400, almost new. They're delivering it to me tonight.

Woo hoo.

Hopefully you can get one from St. V de P...

But I'd also check eBay every once in a while. The stuff posted there changes daily.

I did a search for you - B.C. and "wheelchair" and this is what came up for today - http://cgi.ebay.ca/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1678912610

It's not exactly what you're looking for and it's expensive, but gives you an idea of what's out there...

Just a suggestion...

Hope you find one soon!
