They're "bumping" the thread back to the top of the index by giving it a reply. It's best not to do this too much, unless you feel that a good thread has fallen off the first page of posts too quickly and deserves more response.

i havent seen this much on sijun, good thing...but ive seen forums where bumping gets way out of hand to the point hwere its a device to increase post count...gets really annoying..
