Yea i've been thinkin of coloring it since i began, but as i progressed it seemed to look less and less good in color. I'll quickly slop in some color in a bit, and if it looks promising ill continue to work with it. _________________ -Chase |

the lightning is indeed well done and the sketch is wonderfull.
I think that there is a problem with the eyes in the CG they are a wee bit to organic my suggjestion is make them look more hard and shiny because they also need a sorta reflection in the eyes because his gun is shooting.

Godwin: Now that u mention it the magazine does seem alittle off. I'm still tryin to think how to fix it though...maybe i could make the bottom more paralel to the bottom of the boltgun?
merlyns: Thx. The eyes do look a little buggish. I'll put more glare on em and make them less round. _________________ -Chase |

here's a quick fixup of the eyes and magazine. I'm not sure how much i fixed the eyes, but the magazine looks better, or at least i think it does.

Nice job on the contrast, looks close to a render.
The finer details are nice, though I think there is room for more. Perhaps ridges along upside the rifle magazine for example. _________________ den.vvulf |

pshhh....notin creative would be a piece of string, thrown on a canvas and glued to it with that blueish clear elmer's glue. Anything that somebody draws (except for the thing mentioned above) is creativ. Everything posted on this forum is creative, even if it is from something that somebody's already thought up. if i drew a person, wouldnt that be considered uncreative if the only thing that is creative is something that is made up? But it isnt, duracel, it isnt considered uncreative. And u no y? Becuase something doesnt have to be made up for it to be creative. duh _________________ -Chase |

Niiiiiiice dude, I like the b/w version as well as the colored ones, as for the issue with the eye, in the first one, maybe add a small white starburst which might give you the effect you were looking for, as the muzzle flash would make a white impression on the retina/faceplate.
Maybe is you could rotate the magazine housing slightly it might bring it back on line, but I think that is hardly noticable.
Only other thing I can add, maybe the laser sight should be in red rather than b/w, it would give the eys something to focus in on, and from their the eye will naturally follow up the piece and keep things more in perspective.
You took a blank canvas & created an image, the fact it is themed from something is neither here nor there. Inspiration is where you find it. _________________ __.__,,,, < ^ . . ^ > ,,,,__.__ |

Thank you paws_of_gt. Your right, i should make the lasersight red. I'll do that soon. As for the eyes, i think ill just add some more glare on em.

You're shading is terrific and there's a sense of realism in the texturing that I really like. It'd defiantly benefit from some more colour though, otherwise the red of the eyes looks a bit out of place.
I agree in part with Duracel though. It's like every other warhammer 40K space marine Image I've seen - all be it well executed. I guess what he and myself are saying is that the image displays a good degree of technical ability, but it doesn't bring anything new to the subject - and that's what we mean by "nothing creative".
There's two definitions of creative; the first is to make something, the second is to do something new and fresh and original. You're talking about the former, and in that sense you're right. It is creative. But its not creative in the sense of the latter, which is what Duracel and myself are talking about.
[edit] Almost forgot - the only other thing about the image its self, is that those empty bullet cases are WAY too small. If nothing else but compared to the size of the gun.
[edit2] Oh for crying out loud...
The reason you magazine looks off, is because at that angle you should be able to see its under-side. What you've got at the moment is a crazy optical illusion! But there's your problem. _________________ "Pass me the banjo, that one there, good lad." -Socrates |

Wow..now that u typed it, the fact that the underside of the magazine should be showing seems so obvious. And like i said a little while ago, ill make the laser red to give the piece a little bit more color. i also see what u mean about the nothin creative thing.
u gotta admit though, drawin these guys are alot of fun. _________________ -Chase |
