this is a complimentary image (or whatever the hell u want to call it) to another i did previously ( http://www.alliesrevenge2.com/pics/hillruntrue13.jpg )

i was just wondering if there is anything wrong with the perspective and composition?

u dont have to look forward to aim something, there are such instruments called periscopes and mirrors, yes it may look a little weird, so i might change it a little

the perspective seems wrong; you have two different vanishing points, one for the pencil lines and one for the blocky grey shapes?

instead of me writing a whole bunch, here ya go.. I may be wrong but I think you are detailing way to early... just get down the overall forms at first then work in levels, where details are the last things you do...

this is about and hour and a half

Great scene! Yeah, I remember the first pic. I like your way of creating images. One thing thou: The characters in the front (thinking about the first pic) needs more depth IMO. It's like they only get a depth thru gradient surfaces - they look too clipartish Confused

u see, thats a painting, what im doing is different, i use tons of layers for different stuff(armour, background, weapons, helmets, etc.) if i dont detail anything, i wont get anywhere

btw, great (more like superb..i can never do that, bah...) paintover, im surprised u spent so much time on it, so.... thanks

thanks thor, so what do u suggest i do? introduce more light sources? more detail? larger resolution?

ok, so anyone care to explain the "vanishing points"?

Well when you make a painting you use tons of layers for different stuff, also. You can still detail, but you get the basic idea down so it looks right. Of course you detail, it just waits until later.

I teach perspective in college, and I'm not sure what Tater means by more than one vanishing point. You can have any number of different vanishing points in a scene. The rule is, any two lines that run parallel to each other must vanish to the same point. If you're using the natural horizon as your primary horizon line in a scene, then any "plane" that is parallel to the ground would have to vanish to a point on that horizon line, but where that point is on the horizon would depend on the angle at which the edges of the plane were receding from the viewer. So as things recede away from the viewer in different directions, each would have it'a own vanishing point on the horizon line. In looking at the scene above I don't see any obvious or glaring perspective errors. On the one that's linked, the buildings in the distance look a little flat. Nothing really major though.

ahh i see,
thanks

btw, i do have my basic idea and concepts done, i detail layer by layer, bit by bit(other than the background, which i usually, for some reason, do last)editing one if it doesnt fit in, well if u want to see how i do my stuff...

Inspector, you're right about multiple vanishing points, although it doesn't seem right that you would see the rooftops of either of those tall buildings?

Inspector, you're right about multiple vanishing points, although it doesn't seem right that you would be looking flat accross the roof of that (100 ft tall?) building from ground level.
