I actually did a painting! A girl I work with asked me to do a portrait of her as a Valentine's Day gift to her boyfriend. She wanted something soft, feminine and romantic. So we got together at the lake to take some reference pics, which you can view HERE.
I'm quite happy with the likeness, but then that is where all my efforts went. I'd be embarassed to admit how many times I repainted the face and how long it took me.
Anyway... here she is!

her underbite seems a tad too strong... and the nose jets out just a tad bit too much. (from what it seems like in the ref photos)... even so it does look like her, but if you really want to nail it I'd fix those things. _________________ http://jcaart.cjb.net |

Really nice, and i like the way it's not a sunset or whatever, just a white sky - makes a nice change from the epic skies that can be overused sometimes.
I'm not too keen on the flower in her hair, but that's obviously just a matter of differing tastes. |

That skin is awesome I really like it. Is there any chance of seeing the face and arm in a bit more high rez . I have some crits. The wrist looks too thin and the back below the hair look wrong (I think it is to light). I think that the fabric would look better if it has some big brush strokes in it sargent style (Very much a personal perference that). The grass in the front of the picture looks a bit too fuzzy and out of focus. I realise that this makes you focus on the figure but for me it detracts from it a bit. Possible making them come into focus as they move nearer the figure would work better. The backgorund works well but the texture of the fog looks a little strange. It looks patchy wheras fog always has a cloud like volume to it possible throwing some yelows into the fog might look good to. Also the tree on the far left is possibly a little strong so it take something away from the bird. I like the flower though . After rereading that it sounds like I didn't like it which couldn't be further from the truth. That figure is one of the best things I have seen for a wile other than the self portart thread . Keep up the good work.

That is a wonderful portrait... My only crit has to do with the forground foliage. Perhaps you wanted to throw it out of focus, but I think it needs to be more defined in some way... It has an unfinished look...
Really nice feeling overall... _________________ HonePie.com

You are truly and wonderfully talented. You never fail to amaze me. I love how you interpreted the pose from all the refs and made something fantastical...very imaginitve and the image is captivating. Iam sure your friend will be blown away (or already has been) by this.
Keep up the great work Katheryn. _________________ Steel Dolphin Creative |

Nice Job! The setting looks very painterly/drawerly (hm is that a word?) - I think it works in an interesting way with the figure. Very surreal... _________________ Francis Tsai
