Hiya,

this was inspired from watching old Disney movies which have really nice painted backgrounds. I wanted to do something in a similar style, with a painterly feel and rich colours and quirky objects. I'm pleased with the results, but feel free to crit Smile

There is also a detail at my working res here.

Hehe it's great. You managed to capture a creepy atmosphere.

I too like the lighting and the rich colors but I'm not sure about the face. It looks as if it's lit by a bright white light source from above IMO.
In the working res it's more clear what you tried to do. One side is lit by the candle and one by the light from the window?
Well I think the intensity of light and shadow should be more extreme then.
The side lit by the candle is ok but his right side should be darker.

And the composition ... I kinda find it hard to look at the whole thing. I think the window and the face should both be in a center of interest.
Right now these elements compete for attention.
I think the upper half makes a good image and so does the lower one.
But like that the distance between these elements bugs me a little.

Great work! I like it! I just think that the candle is much to bright, it disturbs the atmosphere a bit.

Thanks for the feedback, all points taken on board Smile

I've revised the area by the window and toned it down, so hopefully it should now compete less with the centre of attention which is the character in bed. I will probably do some more updates over the next couple of days. It wasn't really meant to be a WIP but feedback is always a good thing Smile
