I think you have catch the likeness on the upper-part of the picture, the eyes and forehead, but it is something with the mouth that makes the portrait to not look like Liv? if you know what I mean? ..hmm. I couldnt have done it better myself so just take my comments as tips, I myself is struggling with to achieve likeness with reference that I use.

keep it up and post on

i guess you've got photoshop (i saw your site). use the lasso tool or whatever to select the mouth, move it just a tad left and rotate it counter-clockwise (use free transform ctrl-T) just a notch or two. voil.

flip the canvas horizontally every now and then (with a paper, *shrug*, look at the flipside of the paper against a bright light i guess) if you don't see the problems in the placement of facial figures.

thanks for the tips... thank you.

yeah.. I know there is a problem with the mouth. I can see it. I just don't want to fix it because the drawing itself was so quickly.. Smile I drew it by using drawing ink pen only and because of that, I couldn't repair the problems.

I guess it's still very instructive to draw quickies and test different angles etc..

Here is another Liv. Took about 1 hour to draw by pencil ( B2 and B9). It looks a bit weird 'cause I captured it by using digital video cam. That's bad.

EDITED: I get my scanner working and this is the result... forget those upper mentions.

What about that one? Razz

But I'm irritated because I would like to get my scanner in order. That wonderful woman looks better on wall at the moment... Smile

thanks.

much better now! I think her upper lip isnt a 100% right just yet... i think it should be straighter, maybe the mouth is just a bit too wide... cant quite put my finger on it.

have a look at this:

Hase: I see.. she is BEAUTIFUL! Smile Umm.. okay.. but she has quite big and wide mouth.. she is a beauty. Smile

But hey, here is my reference. I think that the mouth looks a bit weird also on this pic.. upper lip..

http://www.lovelylivtyler.com/showpic.html?url=/pictures/model/model616.jpg&title=Modeling&text=

haohmaru: thanx.. yeah..

But I am not satisfied to my picture... looks like her lips are swollen or chaped but on my original drawings they are just fine. The contrast and brighhtness levels are not good on that pic.. I try to get my scanner working so I could get higher resolution pics...

eyalyab: Thank you.. i think this could be the Liv thread. Sounds good. Smile

On your painting, I think that her lips look pretty good. Nice tones. But if you look at her left eye, it does not in the line in comparison with her right eye, doesn't it?

If I can say another tip, I would like to exhort to use smaller brushes when you paint details. It seems like you have stopped too early. You would get better quality out of messy look. Sharpen some areas such as eyes, eyebrows, ears and hair - e.g.

But still I think it looks Liv Tyler! Keep working as I try to. Smile
