Here's a scary one:
Angel Dust- When you first realize the stuff tumbling in the dryer is a mutilated HUMAN BODY instead of laundry. . ..
*shudders*
Conan The Barbarian-
"Conan! What's best in life?"
"To crush your enemy, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women."
Hahahahaha! |

Heres a few no-one has said that kind of stick with me ..
Gladiator -The sunset - theres one very short (too short) moment where Ceasar is looking out over Rome and the closseum and the sun is setting - you can see the birds - one of the most beautiful CG composite scenes I've ever seen. First time I saw that movie for some reason I was so completely stoned and thats the ONLY sequence I could remember, maybe it lasted a little longer for me.
The Graduate -The stripper sequence with the expression on Katherine Ross' face. The music in this movie - one of the best sound tracks ever
Festen -a Danish movie - an annual family reunion; everyone in a large family is expected repeatedly to deny that the father has abused the kids. One of the daughters in the large family has committed suicide the previous year - and the atmosphere in the empty room where she died, the way this is conveyed and put together really got to me.
Titanic - hated this movie generally but there is one scene at the start where the huge ship is being boarded - you get this massive "wide angle" of the ship with the perspective and sheer scale.
Psycho - the view through net curtains of the house straight from Edward Hopper. |

Final Fantasy - The hole thing was amazing. I loved the ending.
Crouching Tiger Hiden Dragon - Zhang ZiYi is gorgeous. I loved them fight in the scene on the roof tops
Alien - The first 40 minutes before the ship lands. Ridley Scotts attention to detail in the ship was awesome.
Aliens - 1. When Vascez yells --"Lets Rock!" and cuts sick with automatic fire.
2. When Ripley says "get away from her you bitch!! to the queen.
Last of the Mohecans - 1.When the beautiful girl steps back off the cliff rather then let the indians have their way.
2. the musical score was beautiful
Startrek two - the wrath of Khan --- 1. Spock is dying the the radiation chamber. When he hears Kirk he stands and ajusts his jacket. Very moving.
2.Kirk speaking at the funeral and his voise breaks - moving - awesome acting.
3.Kirt is inside the asteroid and yells into the comunicator "KHANNNNN!!!!KHANNNN!!!!
Ronin - The car chases
Starwars a new hope special edition - battle for the death star "Stay on Target!"
Preditor - "You're ghosting us mother f--ker. Give away our position one more time, I'll bleed you! Real quite, and leave you here! Got That?"
Saving Private Ryan - First twenty minute and the battle of the half track.
Exorsist 3 - old lady crawling around on the ceiling
Nico- above the law. Steve has his gun on six guys with their hands up. One says "I don't think you can get all of us in one go mother fu-ker"
Steve shoots him dead and says," Maybe not but I will get an 'A' for effort!"
The untouchables - Sean Connery says "trust a wop to bring a knife to a gun fight!

Didn't get to read everyone's posts, so some of mine may have been said, but these are some of my favs:
Casino: Opening tour of how the casino works. De Niro's and Pesci's alternate narration and Scorsese's amazing touch (LOVE the camera following the man with the money in his bag) make this sequence so enjoyable to watch.
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation: Hilarious movie, love the scene where clark flips out after getting his xmas 'bonus'.
Ninja Scroll: Scene at the beginning where they are sneaking through the forest and they all slowly start to die (that spinning blade is intense).
Princess Bride: Someone mentioned the sword fight between Indigo and the man in black. I totally agree, one of the best duels in any movie, ever.
Fight Club: Once you realize the big secret revelation at the end the first time you watch this movie, you'll be amazed.
Forrest Gump: Many great parts, but my fav is when he is on stage with John Lennon.
American Beauty: "No, you don't get to tell me what to do... ever... again."
Being John Malkovich: Amazing movie, one of my all time favorites. "Right hand to left breast!" "Holly shit!" Haha
Dark City: Incredible film. All I can say.
Magnolia: The Frogs!
Three Kings: Scene where the enemy soldier kills the screaming mother at point blank, in slo mo, and the slo mo gun fire that occurs afterwards, amazing piece of filming.
There's tons more but I can't think of 'em right now. A lot of great scenes posted already too! |

Me, myself and I - No amazing film by Hollywood standards, and I'm no huge fan of romance flicks, but the message of the film I guess you could say, actually had some meaning. (Went into depth about what that meaning was, but decided it probably was a little out of context for this and quickly removed it )
Predator - that black guy leveling a sizeable part of the jungle with his fallen comrade's mini-gun!
Terminator II - When Sarah Connor runs for the elevator in the Mental Asylum and bumps right into Arnie as the T800. Can you imagine the sheer terror she would've felt seeing her old nemesis pursuing her again?

The Australian Light Horse - The charge at Biashiba (spell?)
awesome - The Germans were used to the Britsh using the Australian Light horsemen as advanced infantry. They would ride to the battle ground and get off and march into battle. On this occation the Australian lighthorse were faced with german cannons, but they had to take biashiba or die from lack of water. They desided to charge the fort. They fixed bayonettes and drew swords and charged into the german cannons but the horses ran faster then the germans could lower the angle of their cannons and eventually the lighthorse were "under the guns". (under the minimum firing range of the cannons) and The Australians smashed the Germans and took biashiba and the wells it had. - It was awesome and a masterful piece of filming.

I'll admit, I didn't read everyones but from what I gathered, Mr. Stahlberg and I generally like the same movies. So here's a few from me, some of which may have already been mentioned.
Iron Giant "Welcome to downtown Coolsville! Population, US."
Mulan, 2 parts, when the father recieves orders to join the war at the begining and his wife tries to give him his cane as he walks into the house. And he just keeps his head up and walks past her. Then also, the end when he says "The greatest gift and honor, is having you for a daughter." Both of these moments make me cry almost everytime. The father is by far my favorite part of that movie.
Mononoke Hime, when Ashitake gets shot as he's carrying San out of Iron Town. The entire sequence from the moment he stops San and Iboshi's fight all the way until he leaves the town is absolutely moving. Again, makes me cry every time.
My Neighbor Totoro, watching the animation on the younger sister. Is absolutely amazing. Its probably the most fluid and lifelike animation I've ever witnessed.
The Goofy Movie when Goofy says "Goodbye, pile of broken wood." Pretty classic, and also the dream sequence at the begining. Very well done.
Kiki's Delivery Service, the entire movie is just wonderful. That in conjunction with all of My Neighbor Totoro mainly because its great to see that a filmaker (Hayao Miyazaki in this case) can make films that have absolutely no human on human conflict or violence yet are still absolutely spellbinding and are absolute masterpieces to watch.
Monster's Inc., the last sequence when Sully goes through the door just leaves you feeling all squishy inside.
Toy Story, the opening sequence when the theme song starts is great. That song is brilliant, IMO.
Tons of others also, but I've already made a really long reply and I haven't even started on non-animated films yet. |
