i gotta get this outta my system. i was at gamespot.com where people were posting their comments on mgs 2 and it started to piss me off. opinions vary no doubt, but they're annoying when they come from uneducated people. like when people try to think of elements that the game and story could've done without as if they were smarter than hideo kojima. but they mispell every other word and the comments aren't too bright and offer no alternative.
i beat the game already and i love it. some say that the cinemas take away from the gameplay. ok i can understand that to a degree only if you never knew anything about mgs to begin with. if you did then you should have known that would happen. that being the case you shouldn't have bought the game, played, and acted bothered reguarding that which you almost certainly knew would happen already. personally i love the cinemas.
as for the gameplay, i love that too. hide and seek. there are alot of different ways to play the game (hence "tactical espionage action"). unfortunately it doesn't cater to idiots that think gaming is all about jumping into the middle of trained soldiers and blasting everyone and everything without any problems (play devil may cry instead which by the way i did like too, but definitely not nearly as much as mgs 2).
and as for that person that said mgs was a hell of lot better than mgs 2 do me a favor and state "in my opinion" before hand.
p.s. revolver ocelot rocks! |

i have to wait a little longer for the game, but ive been excited to see the game since i saw the trailer. cinemas mostly add a great deal to the tension, and if they cant appreciate that they suck. |

I'm one of the very few people who hasn't MGS1, and I've been really tempted to buy a PS2 just to play MGS2.
My question is, is it a hard game to pick up if you don't have experience playing the original? I don't wanna spend hours and hours trying to teach myself a video game on a super high learning curve - I've got more important shit to do. But if it is an easy game to learn and I can pick it up relatively quickly and have some fun with it, that'd be cool.
.. thanks to anyone that might be able to to post their opinions on the matter. |

i havent played the first one neither, but ive seen some stoned guys play. wasnt improving the gameplay, seeing a guy running up and down a building 40 times, getting outside, then getting killed by a chopper |

MGS1 had some flaws, but it was still a GREAT game. And the control was very easy to learn. Since I live in Sweden, I've only played the demo of MGS2 (it will be out in february... oh Lord, give me strength!!). But the controls are basically the same, which means they are easy, I got the hang of it after two or three minutes (of course, I consider myself to be a quite experienced console-gamer. Also I played MGS1 like a madman...)
But my point is, MGS2 is probably one of the greatest games ever made. BUY. |

wild knows what he's talking about. as far as not having played mgs 1 well you missed out on a great game, but it isn't necessary to have played it to get the hang of and appreciate mgs 2. there will be some things that you won't catch on to, but that's story wise as it makes reference to mgs 1. still though you're given plenty of info reguarding the previous game's story for a newbie not to feel left out. |

I completed MGS2 a few days after I got it. I have to say that I was extremely impressed with it. Simple and addictive gameplay is what it's all about.
In the past 2 weeks I've played 3 of the best games of the year. MGS2 for the PS2, Halo for XBOX, and Rogue Leader for GameCube. Out of all three the most wow factor for innovation was Halo, the wow for graphics/lighting etc. was Rogue Leader and the wow for gameplay was MGS2. Of all three, I can say that I had the most fun with Halo.
So many good games, so little time. |
