Photoshopped propaganda style self-portrait sketch. The real version is a 7 foot poster done entirely with Sharpie markers _________________ Roach604 ([email protected])

Narcissist is a person who is in love with themselves. Kind of like me (kidding). Thats why i did this 2X3 ft sp 2 years ago. Such a dweebsaq.
This should really belong in the 'Ugly Mug' thread. Its exact likeness.

Don't you love it when people try to use big words and can't spell 'em
Anyway, it doesn't matter, the word, "narcissus" means to be excessively in love with yourself. It comes from the Greek myth of Narcissus who fell in love with his own reflection in a pool of water which later spawned him anew as a "Narcissus flower".
Don't worry. The only thing we fall in love with here is our technique. And we know good and well it's hard as hell to draw, paint, and look in a mirror simultaneously.
Cheers to Chiani and Lionel for looking so much at their "technique" rather than themselves.
P.S. : WELCOME ALL NEW SPers!! |

I been fallow this thread since early the thread stard. Feel all the artist post here like my dear friend. I am the artist who love to paint face. All the face been post here help me learn how to paint. I have passion on this thread. And don't want to see this thread died.
Once Duracel ask me to post all of my sp in one group. And I did. He was happy and ask me to keep on untill 100 self potrait post. after that he say :"now you have 100 post to hit. " I think that is good idea. I think after I post 100. I can paint portrait very well. so that what I try to do now. But....
friend come and go. new srtist come old friend not back.
I feel I stay with this thread just like a grandmom's life.
When a grandgrandgrandmom live too long. People get tired of her. and Her ralative all gone. Long life not that lucky. When all your friend and ralative gone. You live in the world along. That is sad.
I am going to keep paint my self potrait. But not going to post here. I well still paint to hit my 100 self-proatrait myself.
Lot of my friend not come back. I have great respect to Lionel. He been stay with this thread since begining. I can see from painting self protrait. His skill get better and better. He paint self potrait not because He like his face so much. Love to show off his face. He say the worst thing about paint self protrait is that you have to look at the mirrow to see youself. He paint his face because the face is the subject he can look at and study the light lay on the face. study the color ane valume of the light.
Read all his statment. see how he try to paint and all the struggling he had . I know every self potrait that he paint was try to find the way do to paint better. please read and see how other people help each other to grow togather on this thread.
This is my last self potrait post here. This not mean I stop. I well keep paint.

Please don't leave this thread Chiani. I have been secretly lurking in the background and learning from your work. We need more people who are willing to post here regularly. If my work was better I would myself, but I just embarress myself. So please, let us see you get to 100 self portraits.
This is my mood today. It isn't finished, but I thought I should post something here.... so apologies to all.... |

I have to agree with those guys^
It'd be a real shame if you didn't keep posting ChiaNi. I've learned a lot from this thread, and have been inspired by yours and Lionel's persistence and continued improvements.
Don't let one ignorant comment ruin it =)
.
Lionel - yeah, I have a tendancy to leave too many things unfinished. Having a hard time getting hair right in Photoshop...need more practice, and don't have much time to do it in lately. Will definately work more and try to get more of these out! |

tyron, I like the second one. There's much more volume to it and the use of colors is original and well done.
Jump on the SP wagon man, you can do great things.
And Chiani, if you read this, please keep posting. _________________ "Ever forward, my darling wind." -Master Yuppa

MY GOD!!!!!!!!!
I spend a weekend away from the computer and this thread goes mad. Good greef :/. I think everybody has said it alread Chiani please keep posting. I know I feel so much better knowing that you will always be posting sp as well as me.
As everybody pointed out it was only a joke but It does raise the very interesting point of why do a self portart every day . For me it is mainly about practice as I can't get a live model to sit for me everyday :/. There are lots of other people who do it to better come to terms with themselves. There are some really interested self portrats where people are really using self portarts to show the way they feel. For me thouse are some of the ones that I treasure the most. As i said before the worst thing about doing a self portrat is having to look at ones self :/ because if you really see who is looking back at you in that mirror (not just the forms but the person, the personality which is the most important thing in a portrat) it is a trully scary. I know I don't like what I see but that doesn't stop me for trying to improve and not just my painting. If you think this is rubish try doing some self portrats for a while you might find more than you were expecting .
Now to lighten the mood in this thread which is far to somber my Girlfriend came to stay this weekend and broght with here some vampire buble bath that turns your bath red. Since I am going to be bathing in the blood of toad and rat (acoding to the bottle) I felt I should do a self portarat of me as a vampire. I really hope that red water doesn't stane you skin .
