Hi, I painted this picture of a spanish inquisator today. Please tell me what you think, I believe there is something basically wrong with my rendering of the 3D form in general, but I don't know what it is.

Tried to make him look very ugly, but the Shading is a bit too smooth I think. :]

Any help, suggestions and overpaints more than welcome!

Very cool colors Smile As you were asking about the 3d form, maybe the back is a bit big? hmmm....maybe not too big, some crazy angle...hmm.
Anyway, good work. Smile

hey.

If you want to learn 3d form the best way to start is to learn basic forms such as the Box, Cylinder, Sphere
Just play around with these, pen on paper or in PS
Boxes tumbeling through space an stuff like that. try to describe volume, but with lines only. Or if you use PS, block things up with relly large brushes.

Another thing that tends to make things easier is to stick to one lightsource.

hope this make some sence.
I like your palette by the way.

I think it would look better if you shaded with a different color the head, right now it's all the same purple, only darker and lighter. Try to add some color variations, it could help.
Also, adding arms can make it look better, imho.

Thanks for replying, guys!

Matt: I simply forgotten to draw the arm... This might be why the back looks a bit odd. But I think his back is anyways reeeaaly big Smile

Simon: I probably go back to basic shapes. My drawing skills are not bad but when it comes to rendering and multiply values I struggle like a retarded. The second light source I only added because i find it is easyer to render this way, but maybe I am wrong at this. Thanks for your input.

Ragnarok: Thanks for the hint! I tried to add some sublte color variations above. Hope it looks a bit better, anywas its still quite purble.

Hi again!

This could also fit into the speedpainting thread, but I would really appreciate some c&c. Started as a color version, was then converted into grayscale because the colors was too wrong.

No Eyecandy, though. The Inquisator taking a bath near the local cathedral. Razz

Would appreciate any comments. Thank you! Smile

its either really damn cold there or the guy's pretty turned on, look at those hard nipples.

the necklace and cross looked kinda like a treasure map tatooed on his bulbous belly. the values are good as well as the style. I wouldn't have minded if he actualy had hands, as his left arm looks like it was removed in a trackor accident, but we'll live as it looks like it was meant to be a more speedy painting.
