Hm, I think there is a story behind this one, but I'm not sure what it is. This is the second picture of the hunter. He's like a force of nature, primitive, raw and alien, but still something most of us can relate to. There is a hunter in all of us.

I might get back to it, there are still stuff I'm not quite comfortable with (like how he's holding the spear for example) but I'm starting to get protective about it and it needs to rest before it can get any better.

I hope you like it!

Cheers,
Mon

I do.. I really do like it..

but the spear is a problem.....

I think the spear wouldnt appear quite that long if it were towards us that much.. it makes it look like the forshortening isnt quite right... maybe.. (i could be wrong tho)

Im impressed with how everybody can paint cool and nice trees.
Do you use reference for trees?
Maybe the spear hand is too big? Confused

Anyway, I think it rocks the way it is in now.

have a nice day
Matthew

Very cool, your brushwork and your design of the dark areas is very reminiscent of Frazetta. There are a few problems with the spear, like awtopsy said. With the foreshortened viewpoint you've chosen, the spear should probably be shorter, the tip should be bigger, and the thickness of the shaft should vary from thick near the point to thin at the other end. Also his hands look a bit big. All in all though, vey nice.

Thanks for your comments people!

Awetopsy - yeah, that might be it. I think maybe the spear draws too much attention, should probably move it around, fix the perspective and mud it down.

Matthew - No, there was no reference for this picture. Trees are cool, everybody should have a tree in their pictures =) As for the hands... Hmm.. I like them big. From a strictly naturalistic perspective you are probably right, but there is also the issue of content. The hands are important, he's a pretty physical dude, you'd expect him to have big hands because he kills stuff with them. Anyway, I felt it wouldn't be right to give him small hands.

Max Kulich - Thanks dude! It's a cold, cold light out there...

ChiaNi - Very Happy

oDD - Sure there are teeth. Though I doubt if he has brushed them.

Inspector Lee - Thanks!! I'll see what I can do about the spear/arm problem.

Cheers!
