Well, today the situation has improved somewhat. Needless to say, I was very annoyed when I wrote that post. I don't really care about people who hate my art, but the assaults on my character do get on my nerves after a while, and people who use my work without permission REALLY honk me off.

However, I got a very polite apology from the person who had used my picture today. She had found it on bkaro.net, and had simply not read my request that it not be used anywhere. I do have the permission of the person who commissioned the work to post it on the Net...but it might have been ill-advised to put it in such public places as Sijun and bkaro.net.

As far as the hate-mail goes, I suppose there's really nothing I can do about that. I hoped that by presenting myself as a human being who really doesn't like that kind of treatment--someone just like them--I might appeal to the better nature of the people who are doing this to me, but people are probably right when they say that it'll have the opposite effect, and make the predators even more hungry for the kill.

Well, I won't be giving up the drawing, of course--I'd never do that--but I may still narrow the range of venues where I post work...or at least take more precautions against theft, like posting lower-quality .jpgs (72 dpi instead of 300), and maybe putting a white line across the middle of each picture so that it won't look very good, and people will be less inclined to use it. (That was what my painting professor has suggested I do, anyway.)

Thank you, Pat. I appreciate the compliment. The portrait one, apart from being a commission, was a bit of a...return 'fan art' for Enayla's work. You may remember the rat image she painted for me a couple of months back--I wanted to do a similar tribute to her style. A couple of people on Epilogue have noticed the resemblance, so I'm happy with that.... I think it'll be back to my usual style for the next one, though: rats, rats, and more RATS...and not so many sparkles.

sheesh... I don't know what people's problem is. you're an awesome artist. maybe some of these pathetics are squeamish about your horror work or something, or maybe jealous... who knows what sets off the desperately unhappy, but the main thing is it is violating for them to hoist their problems upon you. just keep doing what you're doing. as for that annoying threatning creep, he'd better beware that there is an internet size audience of people willing to find him and kick his ass if need be

Socar, I feel sorry for you and the situation your in. Don't let stupid people get you down. Don't try to please everyone. If someone hates you because you draw, or the subjects you draw, you can say "f@@# u".

well to state the obvious.. that really sucks.

i didn't read though everyones post, but my guess is maybe the person is jelious of your skills and thinks the only solution is to bash your work till decide to quit and give up. (could some one be that cruel/stupid?) or maybe you're just the victum of some person who really has nothing better to do then slame some ones artwork all day long. maybe got some of his/her friends to do the same.

either way. we probably will never really know. i'd suggest ignoring them (which you probably are) and im sure it must be really difficult too, but their are many good artists here that will give you a good honest crit and those are the ones to really listen too.

Just wanted to chime in with the rest that we feel for u.. People can be cruel. etc etc. But u got to be steadfast about your art and your love for it.

I do think what pat and what some of the others has said hold some merit. I really think we should be cautious as to what we post. We dont want to be an open book. I also believe that these interlopers are getting a kick out of distressing ppl like u. The most effective way i feel to face this is to just ignore their poison words.. and dont even bother a response.. sooner or later these social parasites will just lost interest. its Sad i know.. but we really cant do much about it.

Cheer up.. after that many responses u have gotten on this thread.. u know there is much love for u.. =)
