Well... there's some surprising news...
The topic is pretty self explanatory. Nonetheless read this if your interested:

Guess that's why they ditched most of their CG staff recently.
Henrik; 'spose you're not coming back to good old SoHo then... _________________ Trust in Trance |

doh... They are a great company. Pretty big too. I'm surprised they quit film... is the industry really that bad in the UK?
I think they worked on Chicken Run... I was reading about them in IDN Magazine a while ago. 150 staff out the door, ouch. So Henrik was one of them? |

damn you beat me to it, was talking to my m8 just last night, who left there a few weeks ago and moved round the corner..
apparently bad management on the highest level is to blame for move out of films..
they laid off a load of peeps 3yrs ago when Gladiator was finished, then took a load of bods on when they got their Oscar, then recently laid off a load more bods, but the good ones.. they just got too arrogent and wouldn't listen to what other people were saying in the industry, they put all their eggs in 1 basket hoping to get Tomb Raider 2 and this is the result.. 2 days ago Mill Film closed their doors on films... |

Ian Jones: I wouldn't say the CG industry in the UK is doing bad. It's actually going well. A lot of movie producers are looking toward the british VFX companies as an alternative to the US ones more and more often. Over here at FrameStore/CFC we're swamped with a lot of exiting stuff on the horizon.
MH: Hej Java! What are you in cognito? Whatcha upto these days?
Bob: Yeah.. that was pretty much the feeling I got as well. Who's your mate and where did he go to now? _________________ Trust in Trance |

Danny: ahh, ok... yeah I forgot FramestoreCFC were british. Hey I loved the life in 60 seconds you guys did. Hehe, funny ad. You guys have some great stuff, albeit a little abstract and hard to follow sometimes... that's my only criticism though.[/b] |

Danny: Hehe, well I am a retard, thats probably the reason I always mess up my accounts here. Nevermind. Hum, well, doing same old, same old. Mostly texturing characters and levels at the moment at work and trying to motivate myself to do something serious on my "spare"-time. Its not going too well though .. *sighs* And you are still having a blast at framestore I presume? Have a nice weekend pal! |

Hehe Danny, sorry bro, but you have to bare with me for quite some time.
I've got a couple of projects lined up for me at The Mill next year.
Later. _________________ http://www.somniostudios.com |
