Hello .. i'm one of the people who greatly benefitted from Don Seegmillers website and tutorials.. and I would love to learn all that I can..
His book comes out next month on amazon.com..
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1584502320/ref=cm_wl_ovu-pg.1-pos.3/002-8596549-5104046?v=glance
The first line of the book description seems a bit misleading though ...
Quote: |
Character Design and Digital Painting is a beautifully illustrated, four-color book that teaches conventional artists how to enhance their skills and bridge the gap between traditional and digital art. For artists interested in transferring their skills to the computer for Web, game, commercial, or film production work, all of the details on how to make the transition are covered. |
I'm confused by that.. is it mainly for people going from traditional to digital? or can people like me.. (i only sketch using pencils and pens and mostly digital painting) benefit from it too?
The rest of the description seems great..
Do you think its mainly for beginners or can intermediate painters get help from this too? Sample pages would have been helpful
Well.. I think I'm going to be preordering this soon..
any comments? |

I reckon artists at all levels would gain something from Don's book. I learned a lot from his site as well (can't wait for him to finish the updates, some of his tutorials and FAQs are still dead links) and am really looking forward to his book.
Didn't he use to post to this forum sometime ago under the nick "seeg"? Haven't seen him around lately tho'.
Also, am I the only one who finds the Amazon cross selling thing a laugh and a half? If you scroll down you'll see:
"Customers who wear clothes also shop for:
Clean Underwear from ..."
Cracks me up every time.
And that book's already on my Christmas list, if anyone's interested. |
