Just getting back into the swing of things after two weeks of being too sick to work. Some dudes at eatpoo asked for a tutorial, so I made them this picture...the tutorial is over at eatpoo if anyone is curious:

Thanks a bunch Socar! Your tutorials have really helped me. I first visted your website about a month ago, and I was amazed by all your work. I posted some of my work not to long ago, if you want to see it goto http://forums.sijun.com/viewtopic.php?t=30001. I appreciate what you're doing, and hope you feel better from your horrible illness.

Hi Socar! Long time no talk/see...

it's beautiful... but where's the groom? Smile

It took me a while to see that the bottom were a whole bunch of rats .. mmmm... if your still going to modify the picture then maybe define a few rats more, have rats climbing all over her. and.

ooolalalalala Smile MULTIPLE grooms.

Everything looks great, but the eyes look like they are off. I know you love rats, but would there happen to be a particular story behind this pic? If not, I'm curious what inspired you to paint this, other than the rats? Wait a minute, is she MARRYING A RAT!?!? Shocked But hey what everyfloats your boat Confused

as always, simply stunning. You getting married? Pretty design for the dress, too... very inspired mix of victorian lace and light layers...

You seem to have developed somewhat of an obsession with painting yourself into your images these days, Socar. Smile

Brilliant!! Well done and thanks for the tutorial - learned a couple of tricks. Love the feel of the painting too - kind of gives me a bit of the creeps.

Hey, thanks for all the comments, guys! Much appreciated!

Cuddly - You're very welcome...the tutorial was fun to do. And, yes, I am feeling better, thank you. This is, indeed, a self-portrait...I know it's a bit weird, but what can I say...I like rats...a lot....

Bare Bonez - Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the tutorial as well. I'm going to fix up the grammar and stuff and post it on my site eventually.

Intuos - Guilty as charged. My vanity knows no bounds. Very Happy Anyway, I figured I'd get it out of my system with a straight-up self portrait.

sds8373 - Thank you! Hehehe...no, I'm not getting married. I just think wedding dresses kick butt. If I ever get married, maybe I'll have this dress made for myself.

damppuppy - Thanks for pointing that out about the eyes--faces are my personal Waterloo. I will keep working on them. About the story...there isn't really one...it was inspired by a lot of things, such as: The wedding scene in "Lucia di Lammermoor", my rats crawling all over my shoulders, a pretty dress I wanted to buy but couldn't afford, and this burning desire to paint a self-portrait with rats in it.... Some of my friends call me the Rat Queen, so, yeah...I painted myself as the rat queen.

EvilToylet - Yeah, it HAS been a while, now that you mention it! I guess I haven't been on ICQ as much as I used to! Hehehe...anyway, who needs a groom? Weddings are fun, but marriage is drudgery! (Okay, not really. Just being a smartass).

chronus - Thank you very much! I'm glad to hear my tutorials helped you. I will go check out your thread now.

Max - Thank you! And, hey, you're not wrong--it's a perfectly valid crit. That IS a pretty dark shadow there. It's not like I'm Craig Mullins, or anything...I make tons of mistakes all the time, and you should never hesitate to point them out.

Hey there again, one more thing I hope you dont think that Im too annoying.
Would be cool to see the tutorial here too because I dont have an account at Eatpoo and Cant therefore see the picture and or the pictures.

Once again good work
and take it easy.

Matthew - I'm actually from England...but I went to art school in Canada, so I lived there until last year. But I've been in Sweden since January. The reason my profile still said Canada was that it was corrupted on the old Sijun forums, and I couldn't change it to reflect the move. That's why I had two accounts at the old Sijun, as well...so I could change my sig and stuff.

Anyway, I am going to post the tutorial on my website once I fix my grammar and the HTML and stuff...I will post about it in Digital Art Discussion when I get around to it.

HoodZ - Yah, I always do that preview thing, as well...VERY irksome. I hate when that happens. Anyhoot. Thanks very much--glad you found the tutorial helpful, too!

spooge demon - Thank you! Weird as it sounds to say that about a picture full of rats, I had hoped the picture would say something about me.... Very Happy

Socar, there was one little problem with the face, so I did a little clean up to show you what needed to be fixed.

See what I mean?

*dies at the overwhelming ignorance!*

That's what you get for only listening to opera.
