Craig: Something that always impresses me about your work is how you so successfully define planes in the image. This probably sounds really elementary coming from me, but I hope you understand what I mean. For example, the transition from the textured ground (which I love, btw) to the sky is literally seamless. It amazes me how you can do that with such simple strokes/shapes. I always find myself wanting to clearly define the horizon line. I almost have to restrain myself from drawing an actual line across the horizon to get my point across. :P

Less is more; I need to teach myself that to such a higher degree.

Do you have any suggestions for exercises that may help with this, Craig?

Spooge> Wohooo! I wish you did more paintings like that...

Arcpello> I use the normal Photoshop (5.5 (I need to get 7!)) brushes, airbrush for gradiations if needed, but mostly the more sharpedged paintbrush on 50-100% opacity. By keeping a finger on the 'alt' key I can colorpick where I just painted and thus mix colors fast. I've set the spacing on the airbrush down so it gets a more smooth look. I got a few custom brushes I've made by painting/dabbing black acrylic on a paper. I use those for texture.

Dirty A4 stuff - acrylics, watercolor and some pencil doodles I'll color in PS and add to the RBT series.

don perkins: I've been wondering the same thing. This one was painted at final resolution:
