More moderation is just a part of the solution. You have to educate the masses in some way and get people to realize that by posting junk they are helping to bring this place down.
What else is there to do? I mean at least try to change things. If it doesn't work then, well, it's bye bye sijun. |

One way this forum gets everybodys attention is when it's closed. If you close it for two days and display the forum changes and policy while it's down then people will get it hopefully. Pretty drastic maybe, but if it gives results it's worth it.
I agree about ip banning, potential spam/flame idiots will get the message.
No mercy. |

Well... another fine mess we've got here. Just one step short from our very own Jerry Springer show...
I almost can't believe some of the reactions I've read in this (and other) threads partaking the Lumental issue.
Not being one of the invited few, I only actually heard about Frost & SG.'s undertaking this morning.
Rather than feeling dissapointed, or offended about not being allowed to sign up, I decided to close down my browser and load up PS instead. Painted for hours and enjoyed the experience as I usually do.
My point being, vent your feelings/frustrations in any other way but this. We're supposed to be right brainers remember?
It's embarrasing to see this community being torn to pieces even further by the ridiculous innuendos and insolent behavior that have been displayed in this thread.
If you don't agree with Frost's & SG's policy, tough, welcome to the real world. Most of you here want to be professional artists right? (for those who aren't already) Well see it as a challenge then. Any company out there looking to hire you as their next artist will want to see your portfolio before they even think about taking you on. Not good enough?, sorry.. NEXT! Sounds harsh? Well.. very much reality.
So next time some lads decide to throw a party and don't invite you, don't break down and cry, pick up your brush instead and learn something through practise. You'll be surprised by how much you can teach yourself! Don't let any forum become a crutch..
Live and let live. Back to painting. |

So all the people who didn't get invited to Lumental sucks right? |

"PAINTING=GOOD, WHINING=BAD"
I dont think people are whining, they're just mad for a good reason.

-=Gux=-, I really like your idea. Close the forum down for a week, and when you try to access it, it'll display the new statement/rules...etc. Then, every newbie that signs on after that will have to read the rules first before gaining access. |

Like stated by many other people :
"What's the big deal????"
Be honest.. this thread, the extreme amount
of plain dumb replies is a good example of
the current sijun.com "quality" level.
In other words -> IT REALLY STINKS.
Other people already said why.. and you can
simply find to many examples to hide in
ignorance or agressive ranting.
Frost and his fellow canadian sidekick did
a smart move to escape from this chaos.. and
like danny said.. going BACK to the roots.
The art you do is more important than the
medium or the place you store it.. and this
new forum simply provides a better service
for serious artists compared to current
sijun.com forum.
The lumental policy statement might not be
the most tactical piece of writing found on
the web.. but it's not a reason to feel
pissed or start a nitpicking war.
I know Frost as a good friend, and he's not
the type of person who's main purpose of life
is fucking around with people (unlike some
dudes here..)
Take life less serious.. if you think that
this is elitism or nazism.. go outside, and
welcome to the real world.
It's a shame that people use words
like "nazi" for any idea they dislike.
Rating someone's work is all part of the
industry .. it's NOTHING personal, stupid
people make it personal and they will only
fuckup their own chances in life.
Life is not a competition, just move on to
doing new things or work harder to succeed!
Fuck loyalty or those statements made by
so called "social sijun.com forum"
protectors. This is NOT a matter of life and
death.
My 2cents -> nitpickers and other
crappy 'read between the lines' fools : Fuck off! This is just text, not your dick! |

How about we draft a initaition statement/rules that first-time members HAVE to read in order to join. In it, will be detailed description of what Sijun is, and stands for, and what they can expect, and what we expect from them.
After that, any member ignores the rules will get an email warning. They break the rules again, they are out. IP ban might take out more than one person, but you know what? It's worth it. |

Post counts should be eliminated or made private...Some here seem to be posting simply to 'up' there score. No post counts=less meaningless posts and less seniority egomaniacs. This would level the playing ground as well. |
