Like it? LOVE IT! One little thing though... Everybody seems to be rushing... but the trolls seem to go slower(the way they pose) |

Great work! really cool designs, that broken sword, the local values of the characters (this is very effective use), the variations of texture and all in a widescreen format!
Not much to crit, but I'll give it a shot.
The biggest problem I see is the blurring, the loss of distinction between the grass and the creatures in the front. I think you need to seperate them from the grass with a cast shadow or a different value.
Line widths seem a little static in a few places, I would remove them completely or make them work with the form a bit more, make them work for you! get them expressing the light + shadow, form...
Hope that helps. |

One of my fave peeps on Sijun at the mo. You're stuff really reminds me of those great White Dwarf / GamesWorkshop illustrations.
Some suggestions:
1) Maybe a darker more cloudy sky. The concept of a horde of beasts chargin through a nice clear sunny day seems a bit... odd.
2) Something about the ogre closest seems to perhaps steal more attention than perhaps he deserves, taking away the immense size of the horde.
3) The perfectly aligned shading on the grass seems to make the meadows seem a little flat and 2D (as though the grass in the foreground is the same length in perspective as the grass in the distance).
Keep up the good work. |

drifty..thanks...ill look into posting a bigger one or a link to it.
ian...thanks for the kind words and the honest crit (its refreshing to get a good solid crit once in a while). i have seen what you ment and im on the road to fixing them.
ceenda...you gotta be joking hen you say that yeah i showed this pic to a friend last night and he said i should try for a job. heh thanks for your honest crit also...really helped and more clouds are going in and more attention on the grass...u have to admit...rawing grass at 12 am isnt the most exciting thing to do.
thanks again everyone! |

Nice rendering! The anatomy of the characters needs stronger figure drawing. |

That definitly harkens back to the old school Warhammer drawing they used to have. I forget the artist name. I always remember that big gnarly Nurgle picture whenever I think back to it.
Anyway, great work. That shows some serious patience and control. Only 2 days? How did you manage to get so much done without being interupted by a million other things? |

Excellent! I love the whole look of the vile, evil marauders raping the tranquil and serene grassy meadow. Your control of the pencil is brilliant, but I agree with Ian, the grass kind of blends in with the furry beastie that that one monster is riding.
Anyway, that is the only little shred of a critique I can offer.
Thank you for sharing this with us!

You need to seperate your objects more with value choices. There's a lot of detail in the picture, but they kind of all merge together. Don't worry so much about the details, but worry about how the picture reads as a whole even WITHOUT the details. If you can successfully build your image up to the point where all the elements are clearly defined by their shape and value alone, even without the detials, you've already won 80% of the battle. |
