Here's a new technique for me. I worked fast keeping things loose and used photos for texture. Does the face need more rendering? |

I like that technique, looks fluent and relaxed. That breast plate is very nice. His mouth area looks a little confusing. I'd maybe fix that but I don't think it needs much more rendering. I think you should add some subtle colors to the shadow areas too and reduce the amount of pure black, because it flattens the image quite a lot. Anyways, I like it.

Gimbal- good point I made the colors on the shoulder pads match more.
Rhomb- fixing the mouth was a great suggestion. I shot some reference, adjusted the color levels, and painted a little more on the face. I like it much more now. |

Looks good. Probably the friendliest looking Space Marine I've ever seen but still very cool.
I think the only thing that really stands out now is the linework you can see for his hand. |

I always reply to 40k stuff.
The coloring on the chest plate came out really cool. I wouldn't render the face in any more detail unless you plan on detailing the rest of the pic the same way, imo. There is something about the yellow light reflected off the shoulder pad on one side that is kinda distracting to me.
Interesting technique though. |
