Hi folks, I've been thinking of starting a new thread where we can try to project our own depiction of what and how cartoons and anime characters will actually look like in real form (meaning non-cartoonish or comic bookish)....
so here I go with Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke)in pencil medium ...
(sorry, the image is kinda blur)
so folks, do you like the idea of transforming cartoons to reality for the fun of it? I will post my other real-life depictions in form of Dexter's Laboratory, and Ghost In the shell should this thread interest you all. Thanks for your time!

Nice! It is very interesting to see characters from "Mononoke Hime" drawn in a more realistic style than in the movies!
I love this white guys in the background! (I have forgotten their name) |

Thanks everyone! I hope you guys can also contribute your own.. I would like to see how the rest would depict cartoons and anime in their realistic form....
okay, I'm gonna go and scan the other drawings for you all to see later...

ooh. great piece.
i think the idea of this thread is really kewl but also requires a lot of skill doing realism but thankfully there are a lot of real cards on this forum so hopefully there will be some good drawings here.
i wish i could contribute a drawing but i dont have a decent site to upload files to so i can't post nothing now.... boohoo me.
cheers

topeira is quite right. Besides, not many people are 'hardworking' enough to contribute some realistic drawings...
by the way, to end this thread gracefully, I've posted two more of my old stuff...
Ghost In The Shell
Dexter's Laboratory
(I know this piece is more cartoonish than what realism is supposed to be, but it is still more realistic than the original )
Okay, I've ended this thread unless you decide the otherwise |

those pieces are really great.
I especially love how you portray San and the mood on the Mononoke Hime piece...
and those white cutesies are called kodama.. |

I love this topic? the Mononoke Hime image is great too... I like your reimagination of the characters. Seeing them done realistically (well, as realistic as kodama get) is very intriguing... almost makes you look at the movie in a more historical than fantastical way. Very cool. I'll have to try the same in the future... probably with Escaflowne, Evangelion or FLCL |
