This piece has a story behind it that i am still writing. The basic premise is that the character in the picture is the hunter, and he is following a very elusive prey, a genetically modified creature, the shifter, and the chase has led him into this flooded and ruined factory.
Anyway, here goes.
Some reidiculous amount of time in PS6 with mouse (all of it, even sketch):

Thanks, C&C's welcome.

hey...I think you have talents, even if this looks a bit odd, and not very very good, but just achieve you a tablet, and keep up the good work. I'm not going to criticize this because we all see that it's almost impossible to make really something with just a mouse.

Well it needs more defined lines in it, or edges. The lines between armor and skin etc need more depth. Also you should try to do something about the black spots visible in the pic. This pic gives me the feeling you had a separate transparent lineart layer over the colouring, and then when you were done with the colouring you took it off, which left the black spots under it. Don't know if my newbie comments are any helpful, though.

Well, lets see, first of all, I'm glad to see that I got comments at all, and ok, i guess i'll reply to what you guys have siad so far,

nevanlinna:
I'm wondering as to what you mean about odd, there are maybe a few issues with anatomy or perspective, and, like I said before, the entire thing was done with a mouse, so that's probably the root of some of the problems, i ended up stuck, because with many of my earlier drawings i've had a scanner, but it turned up broken when i moved back from school, so it was mouse or naught.

Asurfael:
You said something about defined lines or edges, yeah, I'm not sure what you'd call it, but I've kind of noticed that i tend to do everything (both digital and more traditional media) with a sort of "fuzzy" edge, and I think some of that comes from trying to do this with a mouse, and a little bit to do with my habit of tending to overwork my images a little, but i also think it's a little bit of my style as well, i dunno, whatever... but yeah i might try to make future pics a little sharper.

Phb:
I should be getting a tablet and a new scanner next month sometime... I can't wait.
