You should. And Operation Flashpoint too.

The MP engine is such a great engine. Radiosity rendering, cloth simulation and angry finnish men. I've even started modeling weapons the game allready (I think I'm one of the first to have done this).

no particular order

Grim Fandango - best characters in a game, great and innovative mixture of film noir, art deco, mayan death-culture and spanish accents, excellent soundtrack and voices, very good story, the only thing that sucks are the controls, and maybe the outdated 3d-graphics

Deus Ex - for being a different shooter and for its hours of good gameplay

Half-Life, Opposing Force - for what everybody says

Unreal - excellent graphics even good for today in my opinion, good overall design

Max Payne - bullet time brings you much fun and I like how they tried to make the cinematics more movie-like and how they implemented the graphics novels

Sam & Max - simply for their character and its twisted humor

Rune - excellent controls and not the usual topic, very good graphics as well

Rogue Spear - never played it single player, but the network experience I had with 2 friends one night was simply awesome

Some additional games I really enjoyed

Heart of Darkness, Heretic 2, Gunman, some old Adventures, Baldurs Gate, Duke Nukem 3D, Lands of Lore (only the first one was enjoyable)

Ill add more if I remember some I forgot now.

Faustgfx: Yeah, it looks pretty cool. Too bad the developers doesn't seem to want to release mod tools yet. They are releasing new vehicles, missions and stuff soon though.

Ive played through the full throttle demo 20 times or more, but never got the full game and now I cant find it anywhere in my country. But its too expensive to get it from the usa, with all that toll and shipping shit.

You should really play grim to end faustgfx.

I wanted to replay Sam and Max some time ago but it got graphic errors in WinME. Also I would like to get the version with voice acting.

faustgfx: They intend to release patches for the european version the next few months with dedicated server support and other new stuff until they release the US version (september I think). So the european release is almost like a bug test before the american release.
Too bad for the modem people :P

maybe by the time they release any bug fixes i have actually completed the game. i dread the upcoming tank missions, in the single player campaign. gah. i know they will drive me crazy, so i'm just not playing them.. but at the same time, i want to finish the game. sucks. mad internal struggle.

Tank missions are easy compared to the special ops missions. They drive me almost as mad as I was at certain nes games when I was a kid. The only thing different now is that I'm sensible enough to not break any peripheral connected to my computer.

although what i saw from my co-worker playing some of the latter missions... they're a bit unfair ..er, challenging, no? i guess i'll find out sooner or later.

hmmm... *debates about installing the max-fx package* *rambles* *vanishes to the other side of the net*

Max Payne
The Dig
Full Throttle
TIE Fighter
Quake II/III
Clive Barkers Undying
Subspace/Continuum
Serious Sam (for pure Carnage)
Total Annihilation
Balders Gate
Heavy Metal
American Mcgee's Alice
Gradius III/IV

and Gran Turismo 3 That game is just awesome.

I'd play more online games but it's no fun on a dailup, I'd go DSL/Cable/Satellite but none of them are available where I live

Half-Life: There will never be another like it. Simply brilliant.

Counter-strike: My favorite multi-player. Good blend of semi-realism with team work.

Unreal Tournament: Kicks Quake 3's ass.

The Longest Journey: Best adventure game I've played. Awesome female lead character that is not insulting to women.

Soul Calibur: Beeeeautiful.

It seems we are all PC gamers? No console gamers here?

My favourite games are spread over multiple formats:

Final Fantasy series- I love the storybook feel to the games- the characters can be really deep and you can really relate to them. Also the graphics and FMV can be so emotional

Gran Turismo series- I have completed 1 and 2 (I love the Skyline and GT40) and the graphics for their time were amazing- especially when "Favourite Game" is playing in the background

WipeOut 3 Remix- As you can see, I am into my racing games and I have been into the wipeout series since it first came out on the PS- great design, great music and I tend to get a buzz from getting a perfect lap

Sensible World Of Soccer- Managed to get Bury into the Premiership

Championship manager series- I love this game!! In CM2, I managed to get Brighton and Leyton Orient into the premiership Currently getting Brighton up the leagues- currently in the 2nd division.....

I also loved Goldeneye- it is one of those games that is a lot of fun to play and there are times when it is fun just to go on the snow level and play with the sniper rifle...

Oh and also Ultima Online- I played it for a year as Gyza Vag (gizza fag) and made loads of friends. My brother still plays it and is well known (Wazza, Wilfy, Wodger and Wilma Wellgard)

I've played about two hours of Quake 3 every weekday for the past two years.

Otherwise, I'm more of an arcade kinda guy.

UT does a ton of stuff pretty well . . . Q3A does a couple things perfectly. I prefer the latter UT just feels sloppy to me, especially when you get down to editing things . . . the same map will build slightly differently every time you compile it.

Its certainly fun to play, but for someone who treats deathmatch like a sport, UT is just too roughly-hewn for serious competition.

Its great for non-deathmatch stuff though.

. . . unless you want to do an outdoor level . . . because you can't, because you can't make a light big enough to represent the sun *grumble* . . . if you've ever wondered why UT looks so dark compared to Quake, that's the reason. No radiosity + tiny lights = no sunshine for you. Now go play in a cave.

Hopefully the next version of their engine will address that.

edit: here's some of my current, non-PC favorites:

Street Fighter 3: Third Strike
Bangaioh
Crazy Taxi 2

and historically:

Street Fighter 2 (got me into digital art)
Mortal Kombat
Silpheed
Virtua Fighter 2
Daytona USA
Afterburner
Every top-down Japanese shooter ever made

RPGs bore the hell out of me, except for Panzer Dragoon Saga on the Saturn.

There are actually two Saturns in that picture . . . I have a 32X also, but it wasn't hooked up at the time. My Sega Master system is in storage back in Nevada. I think I topped out my Genesis collection at 83 games.

I'm not too partial to RPG's either, but Panzer Dragoon Saga on the Saturn was really good.

Day of the Tentacle
Sam n' Max Hit the Road
Half-Life
Rogue Spear(I still love this game's multiplayer)
Thief: The Dark Project
Jedi Knight
Metal Gear Solid(for its story, its gameplay was just like any other console game)

*Rolls up sleeve... hehe.. i love this topic. Thanks Awetopsy..

My first game addiction .
X-com, X-com2: terror from the deep.

then came
Wing Commander series, and the X-wings series. My Flightstick lived thru tough days.. Amazing. I love my Flightstick.

then Dune2 .. my first taste of RTS.
Been Hooked on RTS ever since.
Red Alert series,
I also loved RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2.

However.. i still play Starcraft Broodwar avidly. Its stil the coolest RTS around.

Diablo and Diablo2 did have its moments.. I have yet to try the Expansion.. too busy.

Other than PC games.. I bought my Playstation specifically for Square's Final Fantasy 7. I also fell in love with some of the console games after that. ( my bud had every console platform that was out, Jap and US ver.).
Console games :
Soul Caliber
Gran Turismo (1,2,3)
Metal Gear Solid (1,2)
Fifa 2001
Bloody roar
Armored Core

are some of the notable ones.
