This is my last reply for this topic, and if you haven't figure out what I have try to politely explain, here goes a simplified version of it.
"Just do your own sh*t"
Simple enough?
Excuse my language, sometimes that's the only resort to make a point straight after ignorance comes in to play by the other party.

we can't afford him so lets just find someone who rips him off-
if you agree to such a deal you have to be prepared to get such comments (especially when you post it afterwards)- |

Jealousy breeds pricks.
S4SB, you are so far off base that you aren't even in the game. After having seen your kickass stuff, it becomes increasingly apparent why you feel the need to rag on Cincimo with empty insults. You suck. Practice yourself.
Fuel, you're obviously just a nine year-old kid who learned how to type on daddy's computer. That is the only explanation possible for someone as immature and obnoxious as you.
Cincimo has too much class to defend himself. He is also just a kid (compared to a lot of us), so I've taken it upon myself to be the bodyguard of his ego. If you two little trolls feel you could've done a better job with the guidelines Cincimo was given, show us. Until then, shut the fuck up. |

I think the guys have short legs and their crotches look funny...shouldn't there be more "volumes" there?
Sure it'll look "obscene" just like the woman's breasts might be regarded as "obscene". However they're parts of the body, you can't just pretend the guys shot their genitals off to look more appealing in their rubber suits.

That is the most ridiculous post I've seen in months. And isn't even worth the words I'm writing here. You disqualified yourself with your mature intelligent answer.
Cicinimo: I'm not talking about "weird armor, huge backpacks, shoulderpads, big guns, and huge boobs" itself. It's the design of them. I doubt that you didn't understand that.
And I just said that praise thing, because you claimed in a post before that you "don't post simply for praise." |

Of course he took some design elements from Feng's style if he was asked to emulate Feng. I'm sure Feng must have metal cylinders copyrighted . I just wish Feng would reply to this so you'd all stop bickering over something this trivial. |

I'm sure that if I was given money to immitate a certain style, I would take it. especially if it was needed for my resume/portfolio or for the simple fact that I need money.
Don't forget that there are tons of artists out there that make a living by immitating other artists styles. They're called 'tweeners' at animation companies.
There's nothing wrong with it. |

Nice stuff... I'd feel strange if someone asked me to emulate someone elses style, but if you and feng were cool about it.. then sweet. WEll... I read most of the above, so I understand its no big deal. anyways
MANNNNN I wish for the day were I "become too expensive" That would rock. :P
later!.. keep up that sweet coloring |

1) I did think about what I said.
2) if you can't spell the word "ignorant" right you probably should stay away from using it.

As far as I remember I did not insult him- you should ask yourself this question about mature behavior. |

Get off of his case. It's evident that most of the people instigating this argument are too jealous to develop a critique, or are just too lazy to be practicing their own art. Look at his site. It is obvious he busts his ass, so give him a break. |

Okay, let's put a stop to all this.
1)he was asked by a client to emulate a certain design look. For a teenager, integrity in originality might not be THE most important thing when considering professional assignments(I'm not saying it's a healthy thing either, but sometimes a job is a job). Down the line, it WOULD become more important, but getting your feet wet in the business is the first priority.
2)It's not like he RIPPED off Feng. He only incorporated that design style.
3)A lot of you younger artists don't seem to have any idea what you are talking about. Feng did NOT invent the style of design he works in. He borrow heavily from the Japanese and other artists that came before him. In fact, when I started noticing people going ape shit over his work, I wondered why. Sure, he's a great artist, and I like his work, but I would hardly say he invented that design style. If you just hang out at the GT forum you'll see people working in similar styles EVERYDAY. Just about all the concept designers are borrowing from each other and artists that came before them. Originality does not exist within a vaccum. I bet you if Masamune Shirow didn't exist, Feng's work would not look like it does now.
We bust some balls here at sijun when we catch people doing stupid and immoral things like stealing art or lying about paintovers, but this is NOTHING to be worked up about.
Go make more art. |

Sure Cicinimo is not great, but he is good. A job is a job, I wish I was getting work at 16. Yeah, he might be copying some of feng's work, but lets face it, feng is good but he's not revolutionary or a genius.
Common people get over it.
And Cicinimo, you are very talented but Im really worried about your anatomy, its scary you can draw and color so clean without noticing the HUGE mistakes your making on the go.
I got a copy of loomis' figure drawing on pdf if your interested. |

it's a simple little sun tattoo. not much to it.
besides, the one on the site you said is much bigger, and the rays around the sun go in a swirling pattern around the center. Cicinimo's rays are much smaller and are just little points.
but he could have got the idea from there. who knows. |

heh, I couldn't care less at what skill level or age he is. I'm definetly not jealous. I never heard the name Cicinimo when I posted my first reply.
And I'm no newbie either. I've been around long enough to accept the fact that there are a lot people who are better than me.
And I know that they wanted a Feng like design, but it's just too much for me. I guess it's just the fact that I can't deal with copy-commercial work. I would be really pissed if someone makes money out of my work. |

Jesus Christ.........
Although I am somewhat of an aetheist, I just felt like saying that.
Cicinimo: Well, you have gotten the critique you needed on these pieces..
Good job.

This happens all the time folks. Sometimes, you're too busy to take on other tasks, so you bump up your price, the result is they really want your work,so they pay the price and you end up doing multiple jobs at once, or someone else under bids you.
IF they were really set on Feng's style, they should have paid him to do the artwork.
Not to speak for Feng, but I would guess he's delt with this before. He shares his techniques on his website, in a couple of forms, not to mention he teaches too. So I don't think he's too worried about.
Great work Cicinimo, no use going in for a crit, you allready know what's wrong. I would like to know more about your coloring methods tho, any chance of sharing some thoughts on that? |

i suppose the only other thing i have a problem with...is not with the art (good job) but with team xbox itself...or whoever wanted these pics...if they want pics that look like fengs art...why dont they ask feng? i think its an insult to other artists to be told to copy so and so's style. i dunno just some thoughts. |

So according to some of you everytime someone draws, writes or uses a Troll, Goblin, Elf, Orc, Dwarf or Halfling he/she is copying J.R.R. Tolkien.
Or every super hero copies Superman.
So in the world we would only have one Super Hero - Superman (Which I don't have a problem with ) - and one fantasy book - Lord Of The Rings -
My Dali example still stands, whenever I go to a Museum (Which is quite often) and they have a surrealist piece there's always some idiot that comments "Whatever, he's trying to copy Dali but he's not half the artist he was" and everytime I go "Surrealism is a STYLE created by Dali, but as a STYLE it can be done by other and despite what you might think IT IS considering 100% original art"
I'm a big Dali fan myself, but it bothers me when people put other artists down just because they are into the same sort of thing he was. |

Oh, for goodness sake. It's a sun tatoo.
Heck, I had a temporary sun tatoo painted on my shoulder last summer. It's a nice place to show off a tatoo. (Mine was more feminine and had much longer rays, but it was still a sun. ) |
