Hey everyone, I'm doing this project for my graphics class. I consider myself a better sketcher and drawer than a painter, and color things in photoshop has been a weakness of mine . Right now, I think I'm done adding the buildings, but the problem with them is that they look fake. I know some of them don't look like real buildings but the shape doesn't have to. Can you please tell me whawt I can do to the city part of the picture, to have it look more realistic, and quite possily could you do a small overpaint of it so I get better Idea of what you mean? Any help is very welcomed, THANKS!
PS: I divided my picture up to paint different sections of it. Do you guys do that? whats the best way to do about painting it.

I can't over paint (my pen is 90 miles away right now) so sorry.
What I think you need to is pick a blue-ish light source to give it scale and then drop big shadows. Add plenty of detail, such as satellite dishes and aerials - perhaps the odd person dotted around (like in windows or on the rooftops).
Hope that helps.

Sorry.
The blue-ish light would make your buildings look like they're almost touching the sky. I would use a large soft brush with a weak opacity and gently add a faded look to the distant buildings. |

wow tek9z, I really like your re-paint. I think I forgot to mention that I wasn't really keeping the tree those bright colors, I juts divided it up into different sections for easier painting, when I get to painting the tree

woops sorry! thought is was a pro-eco
kinda pic.
weird idea to put those numbers on the tree for later coloring -remainds of these
ready-to-make paintings in the supermarket.
anyway..they 're different ways to paint
so...

yeah, like I said before, do you think thats a good idea? or do you usually only paint on one layer? or more than one? hook me up with some photoshop painting techniques please, because painting is my weakness. For example, should I use the air brush or paint brush? light applications or more opaque applications of color? etc...

I think what's killing the realism on those buildings is the lack of perspective. |
