I just recently stumbled across this forum, and I must say the work I have seen here is amazing!
Guess I'll toss my work in the hat and see what people think. Can't improve with critcism

I think that you shouldn't cover all the inking as you did. Actually, the arms and the body needn't to be in the smoke. You could just make some here and there.
By keeping the inking, you will give more depth of field to your picture.
Just wonder what is the most important in the picture : either the guy, the smoke or the energy ?
You could also create a tragic atmosphere (don't hesitate to give a very special color to the smoke, as examp) and, first of all, choose the source of your light(s).
Hope it'll help.

The smoke looks very very software like, try to work more precise with the brushtools.
The linework is good, just the lines on the hands look not like speed lines butlike hair.
Cheers

I found it was difficult to get any kind of precision with a mouse (which is.. unfortunately all I have at my disposal right now) being left handed while the mouse is right handed
no filters were used.. all colored by hand
but thanks for the input
