How much is the average apartment rental in your area?
I'm in Boston MA and within the last couple of years rents have gone throught the roof.

Currently a two bedroom goes for about $1500.00 a month on average! a couple of years ago it was about $800.00 a month!

Whats it like in your area?

I pay $578+utilities for a 1 bedroom apartment. Kind of low but then again it was built in 1868.

whoa. 1.5k a month is nasty.

around here where i live, an average price for a one bedroom, kitchen, livingroom (average 80 or so square meters) for a month is around $500. 'course, this is the second biggest city in finland, the capital has it worse, the rents are averagely twice as high there in the downtown area. *shrug* *happy to own his own apartment*

*shrug*

Single bedroom closets, er..I mean, apartments are going for about $850-1700 here in the LA area. The stuff that's less than $1000 isn't anything to write home about. I'm currently subletting this run-down two bedroom apartment across the street from UCLA...the normal rent on that being about $2000! Quite the change from my trendy downtown apartment back in Oregon that I had for about $695 a month.

I'm renting a "split house" (one huge house, split left and right with one family renting the left and me renting the right hand side). Its like a duplex. This house is in Cherry Hill, New Jersey (a nice area), has 3 bedrooms, dining area, kitchen, den, living room, storage, driveway, front yard, fenced back yard and is in a very nice community. Total damage per month:

$1,000.

2 bdrm, 1 bath, 5 appliances, den, fireplace recently renovated - $1500/mo + utils. i move in sept 1st! woo woo! i got a good deal on it but i think its about average for the area(annex/toronto) not the nicest neighbourhood/appartment, definitely not the worst. it has gone up considerably in the past 3 years though.

Wow.
I really need to consider moving!

The closest affordable state to me is Vermont.
Average rent for a nice 2 bedroom runs about $400.00 or so.

Only problem is that it's 6 hours away and there isn't much work there.

House payments here are cheaper than renting. My house three bedroom, full basement, 2 full baths, detached garage is about $350 a month (house payments). The house down the street to rent is over $500 a month and is only a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, no basement, I car garage. It usually run about $250 - $500 to rent here.

a double bed room in here Ottawa Canada is 800, which is far from the city. If its in the city, expect the price to go up by 50 more percent.

Damn you apartment!
