Damn.. i was expecting the other type of crab.. u know.. the kind u get after .. JK... hahahaha.
I LOVE THEM CRABS!!! making me Hungry here dagnabit. May i ask how long it took to complete this piece? Erm.. i also assume u used a real crab as referrence.. cuz its just soo good.. and if u didnt.. wow.. more kudos.
And erm..if u did use a reference.. did u compose all the crabs in this manner for composition? or did u just use one crab and did the composition on the fly right on the canvas?.. Argh.. am i making any sense?

Where's a pot of boiling water and some melting butter when you need it?
That's a fantastic - photoreal painting - awesome. |

Lot of things impressive about this painting.
He comes in, posts it quitely and simply labels it "crab oil painting" with no other words. I wonder if he/she knows its a sweet painting
Like I said, there are many things impressive about it, but the most I would say is the texture rendering on their backs. Only crit though, and I know you prob don't want to mess with this anymore, but you could make some of the arm plates with the same intensity of texturing, if indeed they are really surfaced that way.

Loved it!!! I really like the warm feeling of the picture. Loved the "turning of perspective" too. Similar technique for drawing animtion backgrounds. It really takes my eye and push it around the picture. Just wondering, is the "glare" on the upper left of the picture(Between the second and the third crab from top) done on purpose?
Once again, Great art work! |

ewwwwwww! Death Dealer has crabs! *chuckle*
.. what a unique subject. Was this for a client, or did you just feel like painting some crabs? I love all the reflection and texture work on their shells. You also have a REALLY wide value range in your reds - very skillful. Great work, as always. |
