This is pretty cool. but i dont think the head is right in realtion to the shoulders. I am guessing he is supposed to be hunched over, but it looks more like the head is between his shoulders. makes mim look... i dont know, less than a fierce warior. just my 2 bits |

Wow, wasn't expecting to see something this good. Great sense of realism. Nice texture on the hands. Overall strong feeling here.
Now this is gonna be a subjective crit. But he looks a little to, uh how shall I say, "young and in college" to be an orc chief. I would expect more battle scars. Also aside from the tusks and ears, he looks totally human, you might try changing the proportions to be more pig-like.
like this...
I love your work, and look forward to seeing more from ya.

Duncan: It looks decieving but yes he is hunched over and the shoulder plater raise up higher than his shoulder actually do.
Either that or his neck is broken
johnwun: Cool! Now that looks like one mean nasty orc! I need to create a variety of different looks for orcs in the game.
They are supposed to vary greatly in looks.
Some may have darker skin and some may have more piggish noses etc etc.
Shadowman: Thanks
Yup I agree with you. It would look much better if the veins were thicker.

this is so nice. heh. I agree about the human factor on the first. I always imagined orcs having very strong brows. one comment: the circular armour on the first orc seems a big dull and flat. how about adding some engravings into 'em? it would add a bit of flavor and it wouldn't be that hard. also on the second I would make the skin a bit more pinker or browner. he looks a bit reptilian. other than that, great concept work! the noce rings are super cool. (is that in now?)

Raist.. I think he needs a strong shadow under the chin (the first pic) to show that his head isnt between his shoulders. |

lookitsfrank:
Thanks
Nose rings are the latest thing for a stylishly conscious orc
I thought about adding some ornate engravings on the coins, I may go back and revisit this.
The second orc pic was done a year ago so I won't bother touching that. Instead I'd rather create a new version.
Awetopsy:
Oh ok, now I see. It does need some shadow underneath and maybe a bit on the breast plate. |

this is really cool raist, but I gotta say I have 2 problems with this being an orc... those being I have yet to hear of an orc with the brain capacity of a human, nor such similar features (even half-orcs don't look this human). I think his brow ridge should be alot more pronounced too, to make him look more barbaric and primal .
Just ignore my post if you don't agree with my vision of what orcs generally look like. |

Here is a tweaked version of it. I didn't do much except lower the helmet a bit.
What do you think? Does he look orcish?

I still think his brow ridge should be more pronounced, you might also want to make his face diagonally slanted (read burne hogarth's book on drawing the human face if this doesnt make sense to you), you might also want to make his skin look a little more sunbathed, he looks a little pale to me.
I think more "african" lips would look better to me, as far as now he looks like an ugly western face (canadian, american, british, australian.... you get what I mean I hope... basically just caucasian) .
<edit>I think his armor looks too clean too, looks unused.</edit>
