Hi! My first post here
The painting looks great. The only thing I can suggest is make more shadows on the trousers.

On the other side of the river, you start your trees, but it looks like an unnatural wall. This would make sense if there were a cliff edge or it was right on the water, but it isn't.

You may wish to bring the trees down to the water's edge or make a more gradual transition to the tree line. a few stragglers, a couple of young sapplings. Make it a little more realistic.

Thanks St. Seneca for your comments.
I was thinking about the same thing a couple of times and still decided not to do it. Your probably right it wold look more realistic but I took that scene from a reference picture of Tumbledown, Maine. If I would have a scanner I would show it.
I added the river (hmm that was probably a mistake and ruined the picture).

I think you need less saturation on the other side of the river...

You need less saturated colours overall. I would also be using a darker green. The trees and hills on the other side of the river need to be less saturated becuase of atmospheric perspective, objects that are farther away have air and dust particles shrouding them and makes them look hazy.

I see the problem with color choice here. It's seems to be a long explanation, so I did a picture, take a look and I hope you'll get some ideas:

The composition seems a bit central, Munky. The man is standing in the middle, and the big hill is in the middle and the river runs horizontally central.

You need lead the eye through the picture. Perhaps the river should flow from the bottom right of the image and up around the hill?

I like the dude on the rock! Funny little fellow! Also, the ideas of the low cloud in the valley gives decent hight too. One more caution, though - try not to block in the trees, if this is a fantasy world or something from the past, farming and forestry-control was not as evident.

I've had alot to say, so obviously I'm intrigued.
