I started to draw a comic (my first comic try ever) about the Roswell crash in 1947 (my story is about what happened before that crash and why the aliens crashed in New mexico.)
I only have 7 pages right now and only one is nearly finished with coloring. I hope I will finish it the next weeks.
I hope I get some comments on what you think about the style...

I think altering someone's artwork like that is highly inappropriate.
Ebe - Looking good though. I think your coloring could me a little sharper with some more highlights/shadows. There are some wonderful colorists here. Maybe they can offer tips. =)

maybe im wrong but i think comic squares (dont know the word for it) should follow the same rules as making a movie.....dont turn the "camera" 180' dregrees unless its nesesary, it confuses the viewer etc etc..
no ?
maybe im wrong...maybe you should add some heavier lines or something, cus somethiong is missing... cool idea tho.

okay, i used to think we should give flat a chance, but he just proved me wrong. ditto on tarandon, flat does these forums no good, and he doesn't seem to be benefitting at all from these forums.
now, ebe. your comic's showing promise, i think your painting skills match the subject matter well, i love the fully painted page. why the nekkid chick though? IMHO feminine flesh is something not to be dished out haphazardly.

Hi everybody
Thanks for the comments, I will consider that when Im finishing th coloring
Hurricane:Youre right. The so called "pannels" (hope this is the right spelling 4 it) should be drawn, like somebody would do a movie. But I think there is nothing to say against a 180 degrees swivel of the camera. I think (maybe just my opinion) it makes it more interesting like in the scene that was so "well" merked by flat You can see the aliens from above. I think that makes it easier to get an imagination of the room where the scene is happening.
Ken: The nakked cjick is in the comic, because its part of the story. Im sorry that you cant see the Text right now, but my Handwriting is damn awful!
It is said that many women were abducted by Aliens from Outer space in 1940 to 1950 and many of them said, that theyve been examinded naked, floating in a room.
Thats why I wanted to implement it into my comic........and the second reason is: "nakked chicks" catches eyes.....(no,just a joke).
Flat: Im not angry about this post here. I think I can laugh about jokes like that, but when Im reading the others comments then I have the suspicion that youre disturbing other forum posts. Dont make the people at sijun angry. there are a lot of good artists here that want to discuss seriously and want to share the gift of drawing with each other. Dont throw your Grind at all the people here.
Pro-phet: In my opinion the Aliens dont look normal. They look exactly like I wanted them to look. I love the small blackeyed grey aliens since years and didnt want to make them look like scary evil Aliens that could suck your brain in the next second hehe. They are emotionless and look exactly as they were discribed in the books about the roswell accident.
Thanks again to all

My suggestion would be to cover up the "naughty" bits in the panels with the woman. You could either posing her differently (for example have outstretched arm covering up her breast) or having parts of the scene cover her up (like dangling wires or machinery). I think that would be more appropriate for this type of work.

thanks for the comment, but here in germany nudity isnt seen as something special. Its not like:"Oh my good Hes got a comic with a nude women in it." Its totaly normal and nobody is offended. I know that everything has to be covered by something in American comics but the comic culture is totally different here in Europe. And if you look at comics from europe then youll see that theres a lot of nudity in it without making a big deal out of it. Its really totally normal. I like the floating woman in my comic that way and as I already said, its part of the story. I think I will change the Forum Post Line so people know that there is nudity on this side. Im sorry that I forgot that.
And sorry for my bad english, I do my best (Im missing some vocabularies to explain it the way I would do in my own language |

EBE,
I didn't mean to change it because it is offensive. I just think it stands out and takes away from what you are trying to accomplish with your work. But as you said, I guess it could just be a cultural difference.

hehe yeah its not like I have to put nudity into my comic, but its something that you have to draw very often in school and after that you want to put it into bigger projects you have (like this comic, that was really a whole bunch of work, so I had to put the floating woman into it ....still hope nobody feels offended as I know that People from the U.S. think different)
again thanks for the comments |
