Alright, I think your color selection is excellant, although you're right about the anatomy being a little wonky. Also, the pose could use a little work. I'd say call for a reference here. Quite an interesting tell; a bit...leafy?

i dont think so.. even if open canvas supports layers, the only blending modes are multiply, additive and subtractive.. thats not good for drawing something on background.. but maybe i'll give it a try in the old common way, i usually use oil or ink (first background, then the character)
