I've been working a lot lately trying to get our company Artplant up and running..
Been doing a bunch of illustrations, but most of them have'nt been published yet, so i can't post them at the moment. I'll post more stuff soon.

Here's a couple of Illustrations that were made for the book called Alien anthology.
It's a book for the Starwars roleplaying game covering all the aliens and creatures
in the galaxy. Most of these characters are
from the old SW comic so they were not designed by me.

I'm looking forward to be more active again.
Nice to see so many familliar names again
and i think the quality of the artwork that has been posted at Sijun lately has been of a very high quality It seems like it has
turned into a more peaceful place to be too.
Great!

Later,

-Mikael

Hey Micke! Nice to have you around again. In fact, it feels pretty nice being back here myself.

So, have you quit your job at Innerloop to start Artplant?

Cool pics micke.

But what can you tell us about artplant.com? I see Chester is involved too, just curious to know what it's about.

Hey micke! Nice work as usual, although a bit more washed out than usual. It seems you're using a bit more white in your highlight colors on these than usual, give them a nice old comic feeling.

Hows the company going? I'm in the middle of an incorporation myself, and the paperwork is such a pain in the ass, at least here in the US :P

Micke,

What style you have with these! The colors are quite diversified and make for fun characters.

Glad to see you posting again. Artplant can't help but be a success.

great use of simple lines and shading. very nice.

i think that was intentional, bizarde, it makes them look just that little bit less cartoony, gives highlights a more authentic feel.

howdy,
glad to have you back micke, i'd missed your stuff all this time.

now if you allow me, i would like to make a comment, ofcourse a tehnical comment. i just noticed white/light "over paintings" on your inks (?). this is because:

1- ...you rush and forgot/didn't care to erase?
2- ...you were sure this small imperfections will not came out because scaled down final image ? (uh!! my english spl )
3- ...you merged the layers and after you discovered that you dont have any PSD format of this image
4- ...you didn't know that trick with the background copy on the top of the rest of the layers. woo!
5- ...it wasn't that... ok, is just a game

nice stuff as usual, don't stop posting!
once again, wellcome back micke!

I just love your (i don't know how to say this right) minimalistic style with your blacks and tight control over palette. it reminds me bit of my old school frend who had somewhat same style. Wish i had one of his work that he did in our airbrush course, which looked like lot of your apocalyptic painting where guy stood in the desert and behind him was a city. Post more.
(and whats the deal wit the artplant.com ??)

Good stuff. Very effective. I remember from the comics those little guys who where nice and sweet until they came to puberty, snapped and suddenly turned into those big hairy maniacs.

Dixter: I'm glad to be here again. Thanks!

Oscar: Yes, i quit my job at Innerloop
to Form Artplant with Chester.L, Joachim and Jack.

SporQ: Thanks, glad you liked the colours.

Snaker: Thanks.

Bilbo: Personally i don't like those
small creatures..Looks like blue bearded dwarfs. Thanks anyway

Sumaleth:
Artplant consists of 3 artists and 1 programmer. Me, Joachim Barrum, chester Lawrence and Jack Kristoffersen (programmer). We gonna focuse mainly in doing smaller projects(games) that takes less time to do than big projects like IGI that takes 2-3 years to make. We also gonna provide Illustrations, concept designs,
Storyboards among other things. Our webpage will hopefully be up this weekend.

Awetopsy:
It's calles Alien anthology and it also features some work from Adigra. Thanks!

Napalm:
Thanks, Napalm. Yes, more washed out. Don't remember if i did it on purpose or not. I seem to recall that i played around with the layer opacity on the colour layers and liked how it looked. I guess i did'nt want to make the colours too bright.
We've just started out now.

Been going on for about 1 month, Buying equipment, furnitures you name it. It's just until lately that we've started to work again.

Anthony: Thanks! Yes(read above)

Gambit: It's going fine. Thanks!

dr.Bang: T H A N K Y O U

Farwalker: Glad you like!

Bizarde: How are you?
Hehe....
It was a pretty rushed project and i guess i got sloppy in some places. You're right i noticed those areas and hoped that they were'nt gonna be visible in the book(they are pretty small)
Glad to see you back to(or have you been here all the time?) I have'nt been online for some months.

Aiko: Everything is just fine

Ken: Bizarde is right, hehe...

animateclay123: Alien league.Hmm. Have'nt heard of it. Anywhere on the net were i can check it out?

Goldenboy: I use that style when i don't have much time. I just feel comfortable with it i guess. About artplant, please read above. Thanks!

Rhomb:
Oh! Disgusting little creatues are'nt they?

All the good lucks are much appreciated.

Tusen takk!

-Mikael

Sounds great Micke, good luck. If you guys ever need some really high detail 3d versions of any characters for promotional or FMV stuff, lemme know, I'll do one or two for free, in the spirit of the season ;] It's the least I can do to help you guys along with your new business.
