Hi,
Here's a character concept I did recently. Been a while since I've done any painting
using texture. Thought I'd get back into it. My comps been out of action for a month
or so, so I been doing a lot of work in pads again. Thought I would put some here, I'll add more once I get to scanning them. Comments, crits are welcome.

I like FIFI and the textures on karver, but overal pics are too flat and stif. I'm not anykind of expert on anything but it's my opinion. Paint more figures and think the space where characters are, maybe a bit different angles of view. This is best i can do.
wax on... wax off...

Yo awesome stuff Kyri! Love the stylised shapes on Karver, cool textures. He kinda looks like a cross between marilyn manson and Frankenstein hehe. Really like the face, good realism. Fifi lookin mean too yo, like all the ribs and bits of bone showing through.
Like the sketches too, see a Jamie hewlett influence in 'em (think u shoulda painted the ring binder outta that last one tho). |

hey nice stuff.
i dont think he look even close to marilyn manson, more like franskenstein, at least the body anyway. the face kinda bores me i would suggest more contrast, depth, shadows, involved (eye sockets especially i think )
my fav is the girl at the bottom of 02.jpg
very stylized expression really got to me. morose ,depreseed, she reeks of it and it is tasty. reminds me some of eros work, like eros comics, they draw women realistically i think with bored and tired faces. |

Goldenboy - By overall pics do you mean
the concept piece or the sketches? I do think
the pale guy is stiff, but I think that suits the character in what I had conceptionalised for him. Which was a fully working order, no batterys included
re-animated guy. Maybe I should of mentioned that. ;P
Hey Cos! Cheers bro Glad you like 'em.
Yeah I really like Hewletts style and have a
definete influence there, especially when it comes to womens faces. I was't really planning to do anything with that last pic, and was just too lazy to paint out the binder bits, heh, heh ;P
Keto - Thanks. Fair comments on the face.
I don't agree with you about more contrast,
Maybe more shadows in the eye sockets would of helped give him a more sinister look tho. |
