Well, BR #7 is not, in fact, a rat. My teacher said that I should do a self-portrait as part of the Bad Rats series since, as he put it, "...you clearly identify very strongly with your rats...and besides, you kinda look like one!" In an odd way, I was actually flattered by that remark...sick....
Anyway, other notes on this drawing...it's white, and I hate November.
EDIT - Forgot. Detail.

i dont think it needs more contrast, but that would definitely make things more visible. i like the faint marbly look .. it worked well with the song i was listening to. i think her lips are leaving her face a little bit on the far side. that might be what's giving her that neat expression, tho. i love the hair and the detail around the rat. |

well people look like their pets, generally, you gain manerisms from your pets, as well as the muscles in your face get used to expressions you make to emulate your pets, it's just a plain fact, heh still, havnt seen a picture of you to figure out WHY he would say that other than some really weak expression likeness |

It was done in Photoshop with the Paintbrush tool, JickyJak...that's how I do most of my pictures. I had originally planned to do this one in oils, but I did not have time. |

It looks really nice overall but something about the face is bothering me. Think it has to do with eyes/nose not matching the perspective of the rest of the face. |

I should ask you to contribute guest art to my site, since the parallels are so obvious.
Great work too, as usual.

I quite like the composition of this one. Interesting expression on the face too.
Look like a rat? Not really.
I'd prefer this piece a whole lot more without the border and "ratty's ghost" at the bottom.

This one is kinda Froud-like, maybe it is the whisps of white hair. I dunno.
It's odd how you sometimes think of an animal when you see a person's face, even though if you analyze it closely enough they are nothing alike. It's more of a feeling or impression. A teacher of mine was once called Rat Man because of the way he looked, although he was quite a bit uglier than Socar. If more rats reallylooked like Socar then I bet sales of rat traps and D-Con would go way down. |
