very nice and pretty! One thing that bother me is the excessive of roughness of the rest of her body, just distract me a bit. And also the postion of the left eye, it seems a bit rotated. The rest are good, you are good. Thats my 5 cent!

Yes!

I love it. Great stuff. The only thing I would say is something very minor: You have very fine-grained pastel-ish rendering, but you also have big, broad strokes. Not that they can't work together, but in your pic, they occupy different parts of the picture(pastel on top, broad, flat strokes on the bottom). I think if you were to incorporate both rendering styles more consistantly throughout the pic, they'd look more coherent.

Still, great piece though!

thanks for your comments. luna, if you look underneigh the strokes on her shirt, i used a costom brush that looked more like her face, but i didn't like how that was turning out, since this is only a sketch, i just went over it, i didn't think it was so distracting, but i may be wrong.

personally, I like the mixed media look . . . I hate that signature though I think it hurts the image for it to be so large and fat.

yeah roundeye her ears don't match, but she was like that in the reference, she's tilted wierd i think, either that or she's just different... anywho, it's a sort of imperfection that i like. her entire head is surpose to tilt alittle more, but i screwed it up.
thanks greenpeach, great intensity eh? sounds good to me! i'm trying to stay with this forum and continue to post more drawings. it's been difficult with some of the baffonery going on here recently ya know?

The eyes don't match... normally it'd be ok, but given the picture, and the variance between the eyes, it makes it look really creepy.

All things considered - she looks nice and wholesome...even if her ears and eyes are a terrameter off.

Nice paint work. Something that bugs me is her radioactive forhead though. Why that green line? I think you used that color nicely under her eyebrow. That green hairline is weird though. Sometimes it's the weirdthings I like though. What do you think?

arg, i feel like a tool replying to my own post so many times, but this one warrents a reply bumble either your monitor is on too bright or the picture isn't showing correctly. her hair line isn't that green. (not on my or my friend's computers) but that part of the head is abit green. for instance, take a look at a man who just shaved his head, what color is his scalp? green. one thing i know pretty well is color. (check out my website, i do alot of coloring) thanks for all the comments on this short little drawing. this inspires me to spend more time on my next drawing!

Hehe I see a little tinge of green but it wasn't really of any consequence to me until it was pointed out.

I dig the painting. The detail in the face is very nicely done. I think someone else said the same thing in a little more detail on the dress. That's the only thing I can see.. you have such beautiful detail in the face and then her body is very stylized. It makes her face stand out a bit more but it looks a bit unfinished. But, like you said it's only a sketch.

I know this was pretty much all covered already but I just wanted to comment on it. Very nice painting.

Great Work jr !!
I have a question
what IMAGE SIZE did you do this work at ?

what do you find easier, painting large and then scaling it down half the size ?

or just painting at the size that you post it on the web ??

please let me know
I need to figure out the sizes behind work !

it's small, really small, 4x5 200 pixel/inch about that size, but normally i make them pretty huge. 300+ pixes

Nicely done. My only input is that I think the large horizontal strokes at the bottom of the bottom that go from shoulder to shoulder are kind of inharmonious to the rest of the drawing. All the other strokes are mostly vertical so it looks out of place. Very nice work to be proud of.

That is a very nice portrait there.
I have a quick question for you.. the thread says "photoshop portrait." In one of the replies you said you used a "custom brush." Do all versions of photoshop have this option and if so, how do you make one? Just wondering. I took a stab at a portrait myself (ice queen post) and I felt a little confined by the pre-set brushes.

this was asked in another topic, next time you need a question asked, search for it first before you ask.
but creating a custom brush is pretty easy, if you have photoshop 6, it's under edit, define brush, basically you draw the shape you want, select it, and click define brush.
i think in ps 5, it's pretty much the same thing but the define brush is under the brush box. not under edit.
play around with it, see what happens, it's a load of fun.
