Hey everybody, here's an image I've been working on based on a sketch Flexible Elf and I did in PaintChat. Sketched on paper, painted up in Photoshop...tell me what you think. I've already gone through the WIP thing which you can see here: WIP thread. I'm still open to further critiques for future references when I do a much bigger painting with this guy in it.
Hope you like this...

I like it!
It's great, the atmosphere and your style are fine...only thing to say maybe, it's something strange in his face...at the level of his mouth and chin. |

hey TJ, nice painting. I really like his costume, especially his boots for some reason. The value changes are good on his cape and shirt also. I have to disagree with Gordillo though, the pose looks highly unnatural to me. his right arm looks alittle to stiff and out infront of him, and the way his neck stretches out (it reminds me of the rubber kickboxing guy don showed us yesterday for some odd reason)also does not look natural. But other than that, great pic, cool atmosphere.... |

krobar: hey, glad you like the style of the piece. Yeah, I'm not completely happy with the face...it has some minor issues that I actually explored in some of my own sketches. Didn't want to spend too much more time on this study piece though so hopefully I'll get it right on the next picture. Thanks for the critique!
Gordillo: thanks man!
Matt Ryan: but.. but.. everybody likes the pose Yeah, I must admit the pose is really weird. His right arm is a little straight because he's hefting his axe, kind of pulling across the front of him to bring it to his side. The neck was kind of an experiment in getting a certain attitude across (which I think has been working so far, at least people are getting the attitude part). I'm not sure if the pose really, physically works but I think it falls into one of those 'because it looks cool' categories. Like I said when we were talking about it I just drew it and it came out...it was getting the idea across so I let it flow and I just tried to push it a tad more. Thanks for the cirtiques though
simuartist: great, happy to hear you like it.
Thanks again for the critiques and comments everybody, I'm keeping them in mind for my next piece. Any other comments out there?

This is kool, I like it, the drawing is really good. The bottom half is a bit too flat tho, and the axe perspective looks weird. |
