Wow. Great job of capturing poses and expressions with such an economy of lines and shapes. Great stuff.

very very nice man, I have a lot to learn from this. I love the confidant stroke. it's so solid. Do you look at the paper when you draw, just looking at the people for a quick reference? or do you tend to look at the people more?
really solid skills I can't wait till I can do anything like this.

Very solid. All of them!

If I had to pick a favorite, it would be a toss-up between the figure just right of the exact center... slightly bent, elbows back, left foot forward... awesome pose! That figure's threatening competitor, would be the scene to the immediate right of it... the two fellas on the bench, intent in some heavy-topic-ed conversation. The arm thrown up over the back of the bench, & how they are leaning with each other. One seems to be physically leaning in to make a point, and the other guy, angrily backing off, and keeping his personal space unpolluted.

Remarkable, how you've captured so much, with so quick and fresh contact with the paper. (Rob McLay said it better)

*clap-clap-clap*

[edit]improper wording.

daz199: ?
Rob McLay: Thanks!
smothered: Cheers! It's a good question; Personally I prefer to do most of the drawing from my head. I guess you have to find the right balance. Since people are constantly moving there is not really a point looking at them very long for posing purposes. A quick glance, get the pose down and then check again for other features (like clothing and such). Sometimes it's nice to just draw without looking down at all (can get some funny results, but it's great practice for the "line feel"). What's important is not getting stuck in details, specially not in gesture drawings of moving people/animals. You wont produce solid drawings and probably get frustrated, give up and go home.... (own experience)
Christ I'm rambling....
Vgta: Hm.... Been a bit lazy going to the zoo to draw lately (usually I just watch ), but it's great fun. Guess I'll have a try next week.
jasonN: Nice to hear! That's what I aimed for.
feebsaint: Thanks to you as well. Haha. Funny to read your view.
