That really is very nice...I do like the highlighting on the armour very much....it seams though (as I do myself) you lost interest in the legs a little...

But...it is very nice.

Kay.

Hi.

This is very cool. A few tweaks here and there might make it even better.

You've really paid a lot of attention to the detailing... that shows. I know it's tempting to show everything, but unless there's a reason for it, sacrifice some of the detail for accurate lighting. His legs are too bright. Either darken things up below his waist, or, alternatively, give the rocks below some reflection to match the light source.

Also, I think a light source more from the side would create an opportunity for some interesting shadows on his face and figure to break up some of the symmetry.

On a side note, you've placed the figure directly in the center of the image, in a head-on, static, symmetrical pose. It works here because he looks like he may be guarding the path, but next time maybe try the dwarf in another position, say a 3/4 view.

Anyway, great job. What was this for?

I like his pose and the armour design. And he has a really fitting facial expression. It bothers me a little that only his right eye is visible. Also I think the character should have more secondary light from the reflections on him as some highlights are very strong. The rocks in the background seems a bit undefined and blurry. Maybe some clearer shapes would fix that. It's a really cool image otherwise.

kaylon:
I wanted to wrap it up so I rushed the legs a bit.

empyrios:
I agree with what you say about darkening the legs up. I'll try it out.
The pose is done intentionally because it is one of over a hundred pics that will appear in a game. The pic will appear when the party meets the dwarf and they do battle.

Gux:
I was not even going to give it a bg but I thought I would rush one in. The main emphasis should be the dwarf.
Good suggestions about the lighting.

OH, I adore that aged tarnish of the axe and the armor! that is just spectacular! But why not flesh out the background a little more? Perhaps there could be more of a story introduced? More of a setting?

ADORE that metal, tho!!!

I like the character design, I think this has good potential. The legs and helmet looked kinda flipped right now, because of the lighting and the symmetrical pose. Try and think more about your lightsource and block in the figure as a whole thing, right now the lighing looks quite bitty.

well just another little addition to what has already been said.
His size is the only thing that seems a bit at odds. His proportions don't really seem too Dwarfish. I just picture dwarfs more stocky.
here use this just for physical references.

Dwarf

Looking great though. Love the metal textures

Surely you're not still using the mouse Rob?? This is an excellent image, I think that it's definitely my favorite by you. The joints on the gloves look awesome... you do good work. I really like the lighting and atmosphere in this one.

Hmmm... something strikes me as being a bit odd about the leg on the left. I'm not sure what it is, but something looks a bit out of place, to my eyes.

That said, I really love the metal in this. And the sky, too, the sky is very neat...

Merekat:
I may refine the background a bit more but this bg needs to be plan and simple. This pic will be shrunken down and used as a monster pic in a game.
Thanks

Cos:
Thanks for the tips.
I need to concentrate more on lighting.

Vgta:
I've seen that pic before . It's by Jeff Easley right? I have a book somewhere called the Art of AD&D I think thats where I've seen it.

Jezebel:
Thansk
No I have recently bought a tablet but I am trying to become comfortable with it. I need to get use to how slick the surface is.

SlightlyTwisted:
Thank you
I think it's because of what empyrios
was saying. The legs are too bright.
I have been trying different things with skies, I'sort of rushed this one but I'm glad it looks ok.

raist... compelling work.

Looks like you've received some worthy comments. I'd go into specifics, but you are in good hands.

However, there is one thing I feel I should bring to light. Remember that a rogue is someone who travels great distances. A person lugging around that kind of armor would do well to put it on in times of pressing need, or shorter journeys. Over all, rogues travel relatively light (although dwarves are very powerful, and can handle the weight), and are also prone to sport unassuming garments. You've captured the dwarven love for being well-armored... and as a side note, he seems too tall for a dwarf.

Of course these comments are a one-minded observation, and I would have zero problems if you decided to flush this down the toilet It may prove worthy of something, though. I have to be on top of this kind of info, every time I do something for WOTC *thump* (oops. did I drop a name? heh), so forgive the observation, if you find it more irritating than helpful.

Cheers.
