I'm not happy with this pic though I am most satisfied in it if compared to the other pics of mine. Can you guys believe how long I spent doing this..? At least 20hrs, maybe a lot more. And that pisses me.
Dhabih himself did his Jack-pic surely within 10hrs and look at the result....!! God-the-fuckin-damn.. Why can't I do anything right.
I was always adding little more details in it but still it doesn't look like anything. Fuckcheese.

Oh I dunno. I like this little guy and I love the details in the shirt and his pants look cool too.
Being and artist isnt about how fast you go. Its about getting the look you want. How long did Michealangelo spend painting the sistine chapel? 8 years. and thats gorgeous.
so dont worry... 20 hours to pull off a pic is worth it as long as you tried. |

I like it too...
The only thing to nitpick would be that you've gotten the black outline which more or less says "cartoon" then the high detail you have in the jack is "non-cartoonish".
Either that, or I just made myself look like an ass.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Dhab did the Jack picture with the more efficient and easier to use Value-blob method. |

Is there a right way to do anything? More than one way to skin a cat, and experience is the only way to find your way, but experience is not a sum of years or hours...ahhh poo, I'm talkin nonsense...or truth, damn, I never can tell. Oh well. |

You're asking me to describe the United States' history in a paragraph. :P
The value-blob system (there's probably a more technical term, but, eh.) is used by a bunch of digital artists nowadays, including the popular Craig Mullins (spooge demon. Basically, (and i use the term to the nth degree) you lay down large blotches of desired values, (a value is essentially a color combined with brightness, hue, saturation, correspondence with surrounding values, etc.) and then add detail.
For an idea of what I'm talking about, go to the aforementioned link (if you haven't already before) and go take a look at "How I Work.". Dhab also has a step-by-step of the Darth Maul picture somewhere on this website. |
