Awesome picture Veb,

I particularly like the horde in the background. Reminds me of the scenes just prior to the battle with the Germanians in 'Gladiator.' Only your image is darker, which I like.

Neato. There are some things that remind me of Bisley. Hope that's not an insult, wasn't meant as one.

I like the design of the helmet and shield. And nice rendering on the arm.

The characters are excellent, but I think the texture is showing too clearly causing the pic look flat. Strong vertical lines simply don't read as sky. If you were after this look then fine... just my opinion.

Drawing reminds me a little of...(I believe the name is) Stephen Platt?

I like this style more than your usual. Good work.

I just admire your work! They have that
"moveness" with dirty backround.
I can almost feel the Chaos rising.
The skin colors give it very cold tone also.
Overall all the picture is great.

Keep it up Veb. Always looking foward to your
next work.

I really like the image, but my favorite part by far is the background. All the other warriors are so cool. Maybe you could have the background figures backlit so we just see the outline of them. As if they were comming out of the darkness or something.

But I really like it! That helmut is sweet

Hey VEB,
Lookin' good. I would have liked to see the "horde" continue to the back side of the main figure. It would give a little more continuity to the composition. other than that it kicks some GREEN booty!
I do have a question though. How many textures do you use for the backgrounds? and how do you apply them. Is there a good technique for doing this. I have been experimenting with some of this kind work myself.
Again, great job!

Thanks for the comments!!!
I don`t have enough of the current style, nor enough printed yet to make a book Muzzman;-)Nor am I perhaps famous/pro enough for it to sell.I dunno. I see books of artist here that I never heard of, and some just collect dust in shopshelfs. I wouldn`t want that to happen. It`s a "dream" for the future though.
The general feedback I get from this style is is nothing but positive, and I`m looking forward to see what kind of response some of these, that will be printed as covers for Conan here in norway late summer.
It started after seeing some hellspawn art, but now I feel like I`m doing my own thing, combining inspiriration from Ashley Wood(layering and textures) Bisley for powerful far out anatomy, Frazetta for dymanics etc. to make my own "Keel" blend. Hope that doesn`t sound too cheesy;-)

I`ll post some AO art soon using this style. Although some of it`s getting old now....

-Veb

Reminds me of Frazetta. Like the design of the sword, shield and helmet, which seem designed to cause fear in the enemy (IE, they are more than just functional, they are stylish as well).

For some reason, I see him having a leather harness or halter of sorts on his chest. Probably something with spikes (like the sections of the glove).

As for the group in the back, "horde" seems to be the correct word, as they don't appear to be an army of regulars, prbbaly mercinaries (their armaments are different).

Anyway, it's pics like this that get my imagination going (a little story starts forming in my head).
