You certainly have an interesting creature there and the rendering is a little different. A suggestion would be to consider the actualy weight distribution of the character. It seems to be very top heavy and at the moment looks like it is about to fall over. |

Yeah, top heavy. A little blurry too. You did say that it was a concept so thats ok. I think you should introduce some colour into the creature, a flat grey isnt' all that interesting. Although you seem to have purple in there... your large areas dont have much 'life' life.
Have you thought about the characters skin texture? It looks like you have concentrated on the form so far. Probably stopped once you were happy eith the shape, but I think you should go into so detail and add more aspects than just a simple form. Look at Gecko's stuff, he sems to incorporate texture, even in some of his more sketchy and quick paintings. I dont know exactly how he does it.... thats something I still have to figure out completely. Maybe he looks at some referance and ignores the detail, and concentrates on patterns and small blocks of shape, value and colour... yeah, thats probably it actually.... hmmm. Aha, that must be it! (sorry having a personal revelation here! and it was so obvious too)
keep it up. |

MAtt: Yea.. the weight. first i wanted, it to lean against a stone... (putting it away, then wasn't a that good ieda...)
Collismo: have nothing against personal revelations..
about the color: yes i know, but i thought acreature, living in a cave, and haveing much color in his skin, wouldn't make really sense..
(its perhaos a bit blurry, coz its done in this size mostly with soft brusehs...) |
