here ya go...there are two in this page...a druid and a fighter.

I am all done with these portraits after a year and a half of pumping them out. FINALLY....I get to do some new subject matter!

I am excited about the next project we are working on...I made a big painting for it already and will put it up as soon as I can.

Now its time for some relaxing and oil painting on the weekends.

hope ya like em.

hi

thanks all...I learned a lot doing all those portraits...I had to have photo ref when I first started and by the end of about 70 of them I just cranked em out. I wanted to explore different moods and different value range/color theme palettes during the process of making the images. That was the best part for me as an artist...working on that project...I got to explore a lot of ideas during my workday...fun fun fun!

do any of you know any good sites that show the process of making matte paintings?...besides mullins site??

I really want to learn that stuff.

just curious...

The two books by ILM (The Art Of Special Effects, and Into The Digital Realm) both have some good info on matte painting; but they aren't cheep! About 60 each in the UK.

Ampa.

PS - Great pics btw, but you knew that already

Thanks for the info on the matte painting books...Ill check them out..

if anyone sees any websites about the process of making the images...let me know please. I want to give it a shot. I know enough max and lightwave to do the digital part as well as enough texturing processes to give it some life...I guess its the compositing and mixing of the different aspects of the image that I am most curious about.

milkman....while I never actually had the pleasure to chat with your boss. I did see that his early contribution to the project was less than minimal. A friend of mine worked a bunch of long extra hours cleaning up, fixing, and redoing your boss's stuff so that it would be usable and meet the same standards of quality that the rest of the art had...what do you do at that company....Im guessing its video games...but whats your area of specialty there?

Im going out to eat now...and then back to work. ...Im doing some thumbnails for my first go at a matte painting.

jason

Jason, our very own Loki is a digital matte painter (unless I'm very mistaken). He's been doing this stuff for a good few years but is still too modest to consider himself an expert, but the work speaks for itself. He goes really in depth with it all and anyway here's the link :
http://www.vigilante.net/~loki/

Hope I could help!
