:/ ...no it's basically a collage , but you can't find those pics anywhere on the net, i scanned them all in. I have better work...but does anyone think that Photo Manipulation falls under Digital Art ?

I believe there is an artistic side to photomanipulation. I occasionally do that kinda of stuff...but some people just throw a bunch of photographs together and change the layer to color dodge and then call it art. takes em like 5 mins. the kinda stuff like on www.floodgear.com looks really good and its all photo manips.

Well this peice in particular wasn't meant to be very artistic, it was just to look good as your background, most of the work i usually do is photo manip's. I think this was a bad peice to post first

Hellbound: yes photomanipulation falls under digital art... depending on what your definition of digital art, and art is.

I would consider your work here more design, but thats myopinion. Photo manipulation is a sketchy topic, but when used to construct an idea or represent something, then i feel it ventures into digital art.

however, if someone just puts Brittany Spear's face on some nude chick's body, or putting your face on some celebrity, i dont feel that is digital art.

As artists, we have to live up to the "gatekeepers" or the art world. A gatekeeper is a person who basically says what is good art, and what isnt. Gatekeepers are everywhere, i have even seen them here as well as many other places online and off. They arent neccissarily a bad thing, but can also be a good thing when weeding out "bad" digital art. The reasson for this here, is the question of "is this digital art?" People will judge if your digital art is in fact digital art, or not.

i was thinking about starting a discussion on this in the discussion forum, so if you want to put forth some comments, please do.

scanning stuff is not bad, i dont understand why some people here think it is.

Hey!

Since I am at this very second working on the Linkin Park art contest section of their site (i designed linkinpark.com btw), so I was just wondering if you entered it? Mike didnt send me all the entries, just the winners, havent had time to check em out yet tho.

For a critique I guess all I'd say that I'd like to see some original work there, it has a nice (somewhat overdone) design to it (graphics shouldnt be centered on the page) but sometimes collaging isn't really enough. im sure if you mixed in some of your own sketchwork of lp related stuff instead of using the existing, it'd be much more effective. just my 2 cents.

As a guy who can read Kanji the text looks weird but that shouldn't bother other peeps.

btw how come I don't get any hits with Linkin Park in Nepster *shrug* I guess it gets deleted with the filtering.. oh well
