Here's a couple of my new pictures. I got some pretty negative reviews from some other art forum, but I wanted to know what you guys think. And be honest.

Personally, I dig 'em!
You might want to try something more unique though while using the same style. The typical belligerent hero pics are almost cliche. (if that makes sense) |

Yeah pretty cliche but I do like the last two. Each one here gets progressively better IMO. Keep it up and start moving out of your boundaries. I can't wait to see what you can come up with. |

Yay, people like my work. (some) of those bastards at another art forum flat out insulted me. One guy even said I shouldn't CG. Those punks made me feel really insecure about myself, so I posted the same pictures at this forum to see if I really did suck. But you guys gave positive reviews, so I feel all better now. Thanks a lot. |

you can't count on good reviews from people - but here's a trick to help in the art world - spend a lot of time praticing- don't show people that stuff- and then when you get good, or get good results - wham! Watch the newbies around here, a lot of them will be eager to post every little doodle they do and ask for critiques, then they don't get why people don't feel like replying. practice practice practice! everyone! (I'm not targetting you here doc, this is just a general thing)
and now for you personally, you show some budding talent like a lot of other folks, the next step though is to back off from trying to 'accomplish' things (oh I MUST draw a character or this scene or that) and let yourself do lots of disposeable work so that you really build skill. happy drawing |

The head on the first guy is too far towards his right shoulder, hi neck needs to come closer to his left shoulder and bring the head with it. What was the name of the other art forum?? they shouldn't be so nasty, they were newbie's oonce too, so screw them!
Travis's advice is good...

Yes, I agree with the others-- don't limit yourself to this hero style. Draw kids and FAT MEN, and anything else you can think of.
mmm.... fat men.... mmmm

Hey! Welcome to the forum!
Since I'm no character guy at all, I'll just leave it by welcoming you - but there are a lot of excellent character people here - I'm sure they can and will give you some pointers!
Looks pretty neat though!

Yea, you're right. His head does look a little close to his right shoulder. The name of that other art forum is "URD Art Forum."
u.r.d. = You Are Drawing. |
